169k - LOL. That amount of $$ should allow you to comfortably buy both a base coupe and base vert with some decent options to boot.

Base will be priced south of $70k!
I have this from an inside source!
Barra and common sense...
Hard to believe others believe Corvette will break from its whole tradition! Yes, there will be C8’s well north of $100k. In fact, I predict the Zora edition with 1000Hp will be pushing just below the $200k handle. I think $180k to $190k.
But base 1LT will be below $70k bank on it!

I believe a base C8 1LT Stingray will start in the low 60 thousands and a 2LT Z51 with a few options will be in the low to mid 70's. I would bet 40,000+ cars the first year of production.

You're talking about a 4 cylinder puss car. Put a few options on it and its $85,000. These cars are a joke compared to a C7, the C8 will widen the gap even more.

I think FE platform is more complicated than ME platform and needs extra cost. We might see a big surprise on pricing ..

Worldwide Market
With worldwide trademarks for the C8, GM has a much bigger customer base than just the limited US market of current Vett owners.

I read the news stories that GM was adding a second shift at BG. Seems to me that means that they expect to sell a lot of C8's. Don't think they will see that volume at 100K+, as some are saying. Seems to me that this projected volume is a good indication that the pricing won't be that much more than the C7, and GM is looking to make a reasonable profit on many cars rather than a huge profit on a few.

I'd be shocked if the V8 in the base Corvette and those 4 cylinders in the Prosche weren't in the same ballpark production cost-wise, especially considering GMs economy of scale and reuse of much of the engine in other programs.

Probably. Why is everything Porsche so ridiculously priced?

The way I see the whole pricing discussion is alot has to come out for us to really guess. Either the car is not going to come standard with some of the things it is rumored to be coming standard with, or the price is going to go up, and not by a small increment. Similarly, the rumors of a limited production run (10k units) wouldn't support a small incremental increase over C7 pricing either. At this point, nothing is KNOWN as hard fact in order to make a real prediction.
My biggest concern, if in order to keep prices down they have cut some corners in terms of fit/finish/material/etc, that might be a deal breaker for me. It's been discussed in my house what the next vehicle purchase (at least the next discretionary purchase like a sports car) must provide. It seems crazy, but the range of what we are shopping for spans a wide price range. My wife keeps throwing out everything from a DBS to a McLaren (insert model she really likes at that particular time) to a Huracan. If the ME can come even remotely close (not in terms of performance, we know it will do that), then it's a winner and we will have one. If not, it's likely we'll spend much more to get what we want.

Because Porschephiles gobble them up. The base prices aren't even that bad but options are crazy. You can push a Boxster S or Cayman S over 100k. I love Porsche cars as well as corvettes but couldn't see myself in one unless I am mega rich, and then I'd have a GT3RS as well as the top vette
but if the C8 base price isn't too far off from the C7 I will hopefully be getting one

Yeah under 60k with free bonus of 15k worth of gold bullion. 15 year warranty and if you are not happy with the car within the first 12 months, GM will refund you your purchase price and you get to keep the 15k worth of gold for the hassle.

Because they are a luxury brand who produces in relatively limited quantities who charges what the market will bear. Why is it so hard for people to understand that Porsche is in no way an analog to GM, other than GM having a car that is competitive with a Porsche performance wise? Compare GM to VW if you want to talk about fit and finish and production costs, not Porsche.
