Of the 15 or so Corvettes I've owned, I will not consider a first year model again. My early 2014 had a number of recalls and the third brake light was replaced 5 times and was still delaminating when I traded its in on a 2017. I think the ideal time to buy is the third year of production when they sort out the bugs and have fewer restrictions on options/packages.

It’s a worthy point ...but,in my case ,I ordered an early 2014 (serial number in the 3000’s)no issues at all,
I still own it,and I’d probably never sell it .

No. Initial bugs, tech with limited experience working on the new platform, etc. Dealing with TSBs, etc. just saps a lot of the fun out of owning the car. Once I hear from all the early adopters/ beta testers that have worked out all the kinks then I will take the plunge. Usually about 3 years into the run.

I have several friends who bought a 2014 SR, still have and love it — every one a super reliable car. I bought a second week made C6 Z06 and it was perfect. Bought a first week made C7 Z06 and it was/is excellent. Not concerned, and will be buying a very early C8 (deposit has been in the Mike Furman for over four years).

My Precision Red 2005 coupe was the first C6delivered to a customer in the St. Louis area and I had zero problems with it during the three years I drove it as a daily driver I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase an early C8 although I hate paying MSRP.

I myself would not hesitate jumping in first model year, but understand the arguments why one would not. You never know what hand life may deal next. Don't sweat what "may never happen" and enjoy the opportunities as they present themselves.

My very early 05, Precision Red was the first in the New England area. It was an electrical nightmare and ended up being a GM buy back. Bought a 06 Z06 after that and had zero issues. My 16 Z06 has been trouble free.
2nd year, C8 Z06 for me.

Chevy has a pattern of the first and second years are pretty much the same, albiet with some exceptions, and improvements come in the third year, So looking at the third year for me. This version has simply to many changes to be solid. I am guessing issues with the ME C8 will be much worse than the early C7's

Traditionally ive owned 3 rd year corvettes...i did have a first year c5 z06 which needed the required re ringing.

I am not sure if I will buy a first year c8. Im still considering when Ill purchase the c8.

No. I have no desire or interest to be "first", particularly when they are going to be cranking these out by the bucketfulls.

I'm in a good position to wait since I just bought a c7, so waiting a few years is my goal. No desire to roll the reliability dice so I can be the first on the block..Also not interested in paying MSRP (or more) for a car that will be mass produced. I'm excited to see it, hope it's a huge success.

Dealer games and the associated drama with a getting a high demand Vette make it a little easier to be a spectator. Our time will come.
