Geez - just pay some attention opening the door. Besides, it'll be a bit smaller/more integrated when they pull off the camo/foam. But if you can't manage to open your car door without slamming what's next to you, then yeah, perhaps you should pass on this rig.

We've rented several recent construction nice houses near Phoenix for winter use, and all of them had garages so narrow that I literally couldn't get out of our C7 if it was parked "properly" on the left side in the two-car garage. I have to park more towards the middle, which effectively makes it a single-car garage. Since we bring only the Corvette, that's not a problem for us. For anyone else, that would be a deal-breaker. These are houses in neighborhoods with a nice sprinkling of BMWs and Mercedes, owned by people who can afford Corvettes. I'd hate to see GM lose that part of the market due to door design.
One of those houses had a two car garage with two doors, so I couldn't angle toward the middle very much. I had to park on the right side to get in and out of the car, my wife had to get in or out of the car while it was still outside in the heat/rain/wind. She was not pleased.

Interesting people said “RIP Corvette 1953 - 2013” when the C7 was reveal. No risk no reward. How’s that don’t-change-the-formula attitude working out for the new Dodge Viper?

I think the most annoying aspect by far on the C7 is the inside door opening button placement that's triggered again time after time with my knee after the door is closed.
Unfortunately, the NCM specs show the C7 as being 1.3" wider and 2.4" longer, compared to the C6.
That's for base/Z51 cars, but since the outside mirrors are the widest part and that doesn't change on the GS/Z06, the comparison is valid.

Viper was never meant for mass production. It is comparable to a Ford GT in a sense that they were only thinking of selling a certain amount each year. It doesn't have a low base price like a corvette.

The reactions from some of them members on this forum is comical. Thanks for providing the distraction from work and some giggles. The next 3 months is going to be quite entertaining if the last 24 hours is a measuring point. Some will hate it the new generation and some will love it. From what I have seen it is going to be a STUNNING design.

How well did the Gen V sell compared to the GT which were all spoken for before it was even available? How different is the new GT from the previous version? How about the Gen V Viper compared to the Gen IV? It’s not about price points or mass production versus limited runs, my point was Corvette is willing to be flexible and take risks that have so far paid off.

People that throw in the proverbial towel on a car because it takes a risk and doesn’t play it safe generation after generation have a mindset I don’t understand about this car.

62k!!!!

Just pitched to my wife about buying one in LA or Phoenix and driving it back to Chicago as a 40th birthday trip (and no kids with).
She took all of 5 seconds to say yes!

If the stars align i should be getting a C8. Can't wait for 7/18

Who the hell said the car was going to start at $165k? Pump the brakes. Making stuff up. I think the consensus was their HALO would run around that price point. I'm talking full CF/Zora level type car. 1000 hp hybrid....if rumors are true. Z06 will run $110k. ZR1 $130k ish. Hybrid should be around $150k.

You're right, it wasn't $165,000. The "CONFIRMED" number was $169,900. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...confirmed.html

You're obviously not familiar with any of the past discussions that have taken place here. Maybe read a bit before slamming another member.

Anybody else notice at least 4 Chevy Tahoe's running security around it in that video?

Has anyone in NY seen the car today?

Yep you're right...you just don't get

Also worth noting i'm 36 and have had 4 vettes. C8 will be numero 5. I see no reason why one can't work on a mid engine car.

Need the hypo edition here! Must have at least 675hp, but preferrably 800hp! I suspect that is a couple years away, and that such an edition (Z06? ZR1?) will be $120k or more to start.

Really? a Lambo? they should have stuck to making tractors. At least buy a McLAren, but if you want to graduate you buy a Ferrari.

Looks like there's plenty of headroom to raise the seats, but then why didn't they?

I hope it isn't like my Camaro where you feel like you're in a bunker and can't see anything else on the road. It's a threat to safety and worst of all, it makes it difficult to spot cops.

I also predicted it is much more thin, and GM has fake panels on it, but everyone shot that idea down... and i think they are right the more photos i have studied. I have no idea what GM was thinking.

The worst is when a person sits their door against something to get INTO the car... as they sit down in the car and the suspension compresses... that beak is going to dig into the car next to us' paint job, and bend our little beak up.

Second worst part is we have lost 5 inches of door opening clearance we used to have. I hope everyone here is thin
Or our garages and parking spaces are wide enough ...

I can only imagine what the Z06 will look like or for that matter the ZR1! I would have to wait for either one but the stingray does look sweet!

Thought that was cool, they pulled out of a parking garage escorted by 4 black Tahoe’s forming a wall around them (with cameras rolling). They then went about two blocks down the road and into the hotel lobby drop off area. Wonder what then happened to the car? But that two block parade was cool.
