Executive talks $$
"At the top end will be an all-new edition, an homage dubbed the Zora, that will take dead aim at Ferrari, like the Italian supercar maker borrowing a few tricks from Formula One racing, executives said. The Corvette Zora is expected to pair a twin-turbo V-8 pumping torque to the back wheels with an electric motor up front, the package making more than 1,000 horsepower, they said.
One thing isn’t expected to change. Where the Europeans routinely command six figures for their machines, the C8 Corvette is expected to start at around $62,000 — or about $5,000 more than the current C7 Stingray. The Zora could double that base price, but would still be a bargain compared with what Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren command for similar levels of performance, executives said."

Not sure you are right about the assumption of no vert.
I absolutely LOVE my 427 Convertible, but I will be trading for a used C7 ZR1 convertible after a couple more years of depreciation. What a car...
Which brings me to another point. My sports car has to be a convertible. That may mean I never own a C8. Targa top will not suffice.

i bet they do a big internet announcement, and then the cars will be at limerock and shown there as well during/after that announcement.

Why are some thinking no convertible? We've all seen it testing many times, just never with the roof retracted.

Bigger on the outside but smaller on the inside.
Poor visibility, especially over your shoulder.
Two-finger door handles.
HUD no longer in the memory system.
Disappearing miles scale on the Nav.
Etc.
These are all things that were not necessary to get the great handling, ride, and other improvements of the C7, just dumb decisions.
The list of "WTF were they thinking?" items on the C7 is a lot longer than it should be.
Overall, our C7 is a better car than our C6, but a "new and different" feature does not always mean "better".
Staying tuned in for the reveal...

Good grief, do you guys bang your doors into everything when you're in your Vettes?
Geez - just pay some attention opening the door. Besides, it'll be a bit smaller/more integrated when they pull off the camo/foam. But if you can't manage to open your car door without slamming what's next to you, then yeah, perhaps you should pass on this rig.

there are times when i have to put my door gently against the car next to mine because they parked too close to me...
this door gently put against their door is not going to bode so well, especially when i go to sit down in my car and the suspension compresses a quarter inch, and now there is a quarter inch scratch down the side of the guys car next to me.
plus, i lost 5 inches of door travel because it hits things next to it sooner than the stock door. This is why we believe there is no way GM is going to release this door like this. It would be the ultimate example of impractical design winning the war over practicality and function... over any car built in the last 5 years that I can think of.

**** happens... I'd have to replace a door and blend the whole side of the car because of a simple "oh ****". That's all.

Burning Brakes
Unless the entire visible portions of the scoop and where the scoop crosses over onto the door are faux panels and the actual scoop, door and rear quarter are disguised.

People can call me delusional, but my money is on this. From the rear 3/4 shot in all of these new photos, the current camo'd vent does not even remotely fit the lines of the car. Not even close.

I hope you're right, but it's not guaranteed. Think of some of the dumb things on the C7 when compared to the C6-
Bigger on the outside but smaller on the inside.
Poor visibility, especially over your shoulder.
Two-finger door handles.
HUD no longer in the memory system.
Disappearing miles scale on the Nav.
Etc.

I think the most annoying aspect by far on the C7 is the inside door opening button placement that's triggered again time after time with my knee after the door is closed.
