That at the very least so it can grow on me for 2-3 years and then release the Z version to buy

We know almost nothing, but that has not stopped many from voicing STRONG opinions about the car.

. I was just thinking the same thing yesterday. It just feels like it’s time for some “fleeting” peek-a-boo partially obscured shots in ads or similar. But with technology what it is today, every half wit on the planet has the capability of “screen shooting” stills from vids and then “viraling” them to all 4 corners. I don’t know if that changes things now, but I cant recall a new car that has had more pent up anticipation in my entire life. So much so, that as I have said in previous posts, although I believe the C8 will be a fantastic car, expectations are SO OPTIMISTICALLY HIGH that there is bound to be some “let down” after the reveal IMO..

all of those things you are asking for with the c8 completely freeze c7 sales.

Right now, i guarantee if GM had a time machine, they would not have shown the cars off at the ring as early as they did. Instead, they would have set aside a few employees to revamp the c7 a bit for 19, and really brag about its differences, and say the c8 is not going to be here until 21 or 22. A couple new paint colors, and maybe some new wheels, simple things. People with 2015 and 16 should be buying GM wheels to make their cars look like 17 and 18s, and so on for 19s. Every year or 2 they should have had new wheels, it would have been easy sales for GM, both of newer cars and wheels from parts departments.

They are a business, they have to generate profit. If they aren't selling cars and parts to dealers, they are not making profit.

Im genuinely scared GM is going to announce another BK, and im not just saying that. They need every c7 sale they can get right now. The C8 is a thorn in their side in every way possible, until it is being shipped to dealers and GM starts bringing money in again. Its rumors kill c7 sales left and right. Someone comes on the forum and says they are going to buy a c7, GS, c7z or a zr1, and half the people here yell "stop!" and tell them "wait for the c8 or else you are crazy."

In fact, if I were GM, i would make an announcement that the c8 wont be here for AT LEAST another year... get everyone to chill out... let it be a surprise if it comes sooner... say they are working on some super advanced electronics stuff, and the car is great, but the electronics are necessary to solve for all future GM models, and its going to be really exciting once all the bugs are out, but now lets talk about the 19 c7's and 20 c7s and what we changed on these cars for the final year of production... (and then they talk for a half hour about that stuff). That would leave all the loyalists defending the delay and people happy they at lease have a timeframe... and it would skyrocket their c7 sales and camaro sales over the summer, relative to what they will be if they keep everyone in the dark guessing if the c8 is going to be revealed next week. Im a perfect example, and i dont even have to pay for my next car since its a lemon award.. and im still waiting until a 2020 of some sort is revealed so i know whats going on and don't make a bad choice. im not the only one holding out right now from making a purchase

im not exaggerating when i say that above announcement of a c8 delay, would probably triple their c7 sales over this summer vs making no announcement at all.

I received a private message stating Mary Barra will acknowledge the car at a special fund raiser tomorrow. The car will be unveiled in July with a December production start. The December start matches what a poster claiming to work for a supplier stated as fact.

The C8 has for fact delayed my purchase I'm sure others also. I want the very last C7 model, and will wait a year on the C8 big maybe though life turns on a dime and gives us change.

We know what GM wants us to know, nothing more than that. Their corporate competence at keeping secrets is admirable and something our elected officials could learn from. I am sure those first adopters who have to be at the head of the line will have one in their garage by Dec 31, this year. What I do know is April 15 is the worst day of the year for me since quarterly estimated taxes for my business are due as well as '18 income taxes... Bread and water only on that day....

You’re absolutely right. None of us know very much about the C8.

This “delay” really isn’t all that unusual, but it’s frustrating us. We’re just all spoiled by the internet and social media rapid news cycles. I remember the old days when model change over at the factories was around the first of August, and a new car stayed under wraps until the September release of all of the new model year. Then people flooded the dealerships to see the newest models. Over the past 20 years, the new model year releases have just crept earlier and earlier and the reveals have been given even longer lead times.

Yeah, I want to see the car in all of its glory, and I’m still confident of a reveal sometime “reasonably” soon with ordering open by September. I hope Tool Hoarder has a solid source because his info sounds promising.

Why do a december release? Might as well wait until january 21st 2020 and lable the c8 a 2021 model ..

if its a 2020 model year vehiclewe should see it in showrooms this september at the latest.

of course I have no idea and just shooting from the hip...

My guess is it will be a '21 model and there will be no 2020 Corvette. Or... it will be a '20 model but released later than "normal". GM did funky stuff with the 2018 and 2019 MY designations for the C7.

If they're manufacturing in DEC '19, why would there be no '20?
