If you lived in Florida and ever tried to spec a vanity plate you would know that plate did take a lot of creativity. Since we get 7 characters, the DMV clerk just wants to start the letters at the left edge of the plate. If you don't take the time to sort out the form, there is no telling how your plate will be made. Over the years, I have had several plates I sent back due to poor letter spacing.
Kinda proud of my Undergrad alma mater so I just roll with a License plat frame that says Georgia Tech (Top) College of Engineering (bottom), in yellow so it does/would match my calipers. But I am waitin on the Z before I decide if I will be a C8 buyer.
What true car enthusiast cares much about a vanity license plate?
Sheesh, if one is that desperate for attention, one could do better by making an ordinary trip to the grocery store, wearing only a leopard-pattern jockstrap.
In Nebraska they have what is called a Specialty Plate. Same as a Vanity Plate except they only give you one to put on the back. I ordered C8 but it was already taken so I settled for C8 Z06 which is my next car after the 2020 which is at 2000. Who knows when it will be built. I didn't buy the plate for attention, I bought it because I won't need a front plate.
When the time comes for a C8, I'll keep my old C5 plate. I never thought of it as being braggadocious or pretentious. That's not who I am although millenium yellow screams "look at me" enough, I guess! I just thought it was kind of fun. I've always loved my Vettes but don't really care about showing them off or anything. I've never participated in a car show. If someone wants to talk about the car, I'm more than happy to visit but to sit in a chair behind your car for 2 days while others walk by and look has zero appeal to me. Some folks love it. Just not my thing.
