Why put a deposit for an unknown? We know much much less than we know about this car! Looks, price, engine, transmission, interior, etc. etc. I will wait till it is revealed and know if it is something that I like and can afford before laying any money down. I don't need to be the first on the block to have one.

This car isn't even announced yet, and it's already generating profits for pretentious YouTubers.

LOL. So dealer took your money and will sit on it until they get an allocation for a build. I did this once on an M3. Had to get a refund because they couldn’t get one and went with another dealer that had me a production number immediately. Good luck.

A Chevy dealer salesman, who goes to the same Gym as I do, says "As far as our dealership goes, we do not have any OFFICIAL word from GM that such car exists". No sales person is allowed to talk about it, ask for deposit and etc.
I said, "Sure, if you talk about ME C8, who is going to buy all these C7s on the lot". He said "Exactly".

Confused here...…
How does one put down a deposit on:
Congratulations!
How does one put down a deposit on:
- a car that doesn't exist; Wrong. Lots of photos and videos that show it does exist. But not yet for sale.
- a car that's going to be a Cadillac; Wrong. Nothing from GM says its going to be a Cadillac. Lots of Chevy dealers will have something to say about that.
- a car that is going to start out at $169K? Wrong. GM isn't stupid enough to set a such a silly starting price. The factory wouldn't have any to build at that price and GM would loose money at that price. Look at the rumors of the price of the C7 before they released the base price. It surprised everyone how low that was.
Congratulations!

This is just dealers making money. It's silly. There's no guarantee that you will get it any earlier. In fact, the biggest Vette dealers will get their allocation first and the little dealers will get them later.
I'm not putting any money "down" on a car that I don't even know what it costs, let alone looks like or performs.
This practice is only going to end up with upset customers wondering where their cars are and why someone else got theirs first. GM should stop it.

Once they start building the ME they will keep building them. Unless a customer plans on bubble wrapping one for the next 30 years or it's RICK HENDRICK'S it doesn't matter

This thread and some of its replies makes me really scratch my head for how some of you manage have an established career to make you afford a Banana let alone a Corvette!

how does one go about putting a deposit down on a vehicle that no one has seen, has no official name and best of all, no pricing available? What if the ME Whatever isn't even a Corvette and the C8 is a warmed over C7......What's that old P. T. Barnum quote regarding one being born every minute?
