Mid-Engine - Where would I put Golf Clubs?
Perhaps an unpopular sentiment, but, for me, one of the things I've loved the most about all of my 'vettes has been the relative practicality of the hatch design = enabling me to carry 2 sets of golf clubs in the back, or 1 set + a walking cart, groceries, boxes, etc. - making the 'vette a relatively practical sports car, much more so than its competitors.
I fear that a mid-engine design will lose this relative practicality, and also put the 'vette into a very different market niche. Just my 2 cents!

There is NO practicality for any mid-engine and they surely are not meant to haul golf clubs.

I don't know much about mid-engine cars, but is there (usually) a boot (trunk) in front and in back?

As mentioned, many have storage under the hood, however, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it yet...

Don't think the guys who make and sell these cars don't understand they won't sell 40,000 mid-engined sports cars annually because they're not so easy to live with. They better, if they don't Corvette sales will be cut in half.

The storage in any mid-engine is enough to put one or two plastic bags worth of groceries in it.
See.....you can take a mid engine to the grocery store, but not the golf course.
If you can afford a mid-engine, you can afford to pay someone to bring your clubs in another car for you.

Any particular reason for why you couldn't have your junk in the front trunk?

If that is the case with the new car, then since there is no spare, you can pack all the stuff you want. Problem solved.

While I can't get a set of golf clubs in mine. I can get a leather duffle, a case or two of wine, and maybe some other soft, small bags in the back.
"IF" I take out the full-sized spare there's room for another duffle or two up front, but the golf clubs ain't goin'.....
But, I've got the best of both worlds. I own both a C7 and a 328 GTB Ferrari.... oh, and I blew my shoulder in SE Asia in 1970 and haven't played golf since....

Golf clubs...really??
Who the hell takes their Corvette to a golf course to get it banged in the parking lot by car doors?

If you're a buyer that wants to haul golf clubs, then you'll buy the front engine/rwd Corvette. If you want higher performance and will put your golf clubs in the passenger seat, you'll buy the Mid engine/rwd car.
You'll have options...that's how it'll work....simple.
I actually took my corvettes to the course quite frequently. Just depends on where you go. Going from my first C4 to a C5Z...I'll admit, even as an early 30's guy, being able to own a Z06 and put two pretty big bags in my car was awesome.
My C4, my clubs were my passenger. Haven't put my clubs in our C6 but I assume they fit. C5Z has that great rear storage sump though...great car.

I just made a trip to Ohio and back from NC with my C7. When I did that trip a few years ago in my C5 coupe it just swallowed all the gear I took with me. I took pretty much the same stuff this time and I had to take some care about how I arranged things so it all fit. Now I see why. I knew the C7's cargo area was smaller, but didn't realize how much smaller.

Is this really a valid concern GM should consider? Try to get a full set of clubs the way they should be safely stowed in a 911, Viper, Cayman, Boxster, ZL1, Maserati GT, Jaguar F-Type R, etc. LOL. Not to mention that golf is declining much like the three martini lunch. If GM elected not to build an ME vette in order to appease the dwindling golf crowd, the brand is in trouble.
PS - I'm not a golf hater, and in fact, am a Hazeltine member. Like most sports car owners, I have other vehicles to haul cargo if need be. Aside from mine and one other, I rarely even see vettes in the Hazeltine parking lot. It's full of MB's, Audi's, BMW's, Caddy's and Porsche's. For like $150/year, members leave their clubs there...
