Friend had a buyer of his ZR1 contract a hauling company to pick up the vehicle. A Russian speaking fellow showed up that used his phone to get a person at the office to interpret for him. The trailer was rickety, the wood floor had loose screws sticking up (I got some tools to screw them back down) and the tires looked a little suspect. Moral of the story is not all hauling companies are top notch.

That would have been a NO GO! Mine was one of the top carriers at the time :/ luckily a friend with me was able to jump in and save the ZR from major damage !
Was your friends through a @broker! Another BIG no !

That may very well have been the problem.

I have encountered several transporters picking up cars I have sold using drivers that speak very little English.Their rigs appear to be very basic and minimal for the job.

I do not use brokers under any circumstances, I only use transporters with their own drivers and trucks. The broker will tell you anything in terms of pickup and delivery times and the 'first class' equipment being used to transport your precious cargo just to get your commitment. They then shop the trip around to the lowest price independent trucker to enhance their margins after you, the customer, are locked in to a price with a credit card deposit. When the trip is inevitably delayed because of the trip shopping the broker always has an excuse as to why there are 'special circumstances' this time.

I have used Plycar and Passport with great results. Mike Furman at Criswell Chevrolet uses Plycar exclusively.
Plycar was $350 higher than broker Road Runner the last time I used them and I was happy to pay it.

Not 100% that this is a ZR1 - wheels certainly are. Watertown, NY. Lifenet chopper was used. Hope they made it.

Rear bumper has corvette script. Not a zr1. Still a horrible picture. Hope occupants survived.

Serves him right for driving around the marked police truck, then jumping on it.

Ruined well before it crashed. Hideous cosmetic mods.

This "show" isn't what it used to be. They were run out of thier last meeting place which was actually in Windemere beause of exiting burn-outs and a BMW including wife in the passenger seat and 2 grade-school children in the back seat lost it on exit, got sideways and then tried unsuccessfully to penitrate a 8-foot tall brick wall surrounding a gated community accross the street. A contingensy of police were not more that yards away and watched as it happened. The driver went to jail in handcuffs and the car was towed away. The mall black-listed the show as this wasnt their first or even their second burn-out crash. The new site is now on the east side of town in a mall parking lot near the interntional outlets mall which is nowhere near Windemere yet they retain the Windemere name - hahahaha. Last time I showed up for the show and got hit up for $$ I told the organizer I will start attending again when he pays me to show up.

Kev, @Repo Pilot thanks for the intel! I was going to tag you. Years ago this was a great show. Too bad another one ruining things for the rest of us.
$$$ for events , ummmmm no. There have been a few trying that all over. It’s for fun not profit.

If one is going to turn off the stability and traction control to show off, one should know how to handle a drift.
