I understand your point, and have often thought the same thing but if you really think about it, all cars, even the old reliable family car have been going through this same procedure on cold start up and it doesn't seem to be an issue with the manufacturers. I suppose there is no way to warm the engine up prior to startup without it being garaged in a warm environment , like Florida where I live. Point well taken though !

If anyone has been to a plant, car/truck or engine plant, you can't harm it more than they do after assembly, and with near zero miles - trust me.

Melting Slicks
I won't have mine until February but I'm worried about the tire pressure when it's cold. My 16 Z06 showed 28 in each tire when it is cold and I never moved it because I didn't want to ruin the wheels.

Do you think GM (and every other manufacturer) programs their cars to idle high until they're warm because the cars didn't burn enough fuel or something? It's obviously done intentionally and after a lot of testing. Testing > "Seems to me it’s kinda hard on the engine"

I've had thoughts too that the aggressive "VROOM" on startup may not be the best thing for the engine. I suppose it's a marketing decision, to make the car sound bad-asser, since most other GM vehicles don't seem to do it.
If I end up scaring some little old lady, or someone gives me a hard time about it, I guess I'll just explain that the computer did it, not me, and that I didn't touch the throttle.
