2018 ZR1 vs C8 Mid Engine Z06
Wondering everyone’s opinions here. Now that we know a ZR1 will be roughly135k (optioned up the way someone would want a ZR1) what’s everyone’s option about the price the mid engine Z06 will be? Also what will be the horsepower numbers, 0-60 etc of the Mid engine Z06. I can’t imagine it would change much. You can’t get much faster than upper 2’s for 0-60 and top speed can’t change but so much I would think.
Seems to me if history repeats itself the next Z06 (mid engine) will be as good or better than the ZR1 that’s coming out next year and will be way less $$. Thoughts? Isn’t that what happened with the last ZR1 then the next Z06 came out with similar numbers but way less $$ and drove the price of both cars down on secondary market.
I for one don’t like the look of the spy shots of the mid engine so I may be on the hunt for a garage queen low miles 2018 ZR1 in a few years when the hype dies down and prices fall/stabilize.I really love the look of this C7 body style so this ZR1 may make the most sense to me once they fall a little in price (lightly used ones for sale).
This new ZR1 is meant to compete with VIPER ACR aero correct? Meaning much more downforce and will tear up tracks more so than straight lines? I’m more of a straight line kind of a guy. But the ACR had limited top speed with all the aero stuff. Sounds like the ZR1 won’t be limited at top speed (in fact faster top speed). Pretty awesome stuff.
How are the new vettes for tall guys? I’m 6’4 1/2
Thoughts?

Different this time as the ME maybe more money than the ZR1.
I like the look of the mid engine and I saw shots with no camo
Looks great!

ME if it happens will be a long ways down the road the Corvette body changes about every 8 years C5 1997 to 2004 C6 2005 to 2013 C7 2014 to 2022 so we have a ways to go befor a new change.

so what you and Jalopnik are saying then is that the next generation Corvette (C8) will not be a front engine/rear drive car.....riiiiiiight. You do realize the the "C" in C8 denotes Corvette, just as it did for the previous 7 generations don't you? When the ME car does come out I highly, highly doubt GM will call it a Corvette.
Better check the ME photo is out with out camo and it has a Corvette flag on the back.

For once a good thread on to ZR1 or not. I personally will not be waiting for the C8. Don't want the be the first one with it. I do plan to spend some money on another car and a ZR1 convertible is on the list of players. I am also looking at other ME cars like McLaren, Ferrari, Lambos. The question for me is which arena would I rather play in? I don't care who is the fastest. What's the point in that matrix in this price range anyway. I want something that is not seen on every block. That is the BIG strike against the ZR1. There are C7's everywhere. Also knowing that the interior is not upgraded much. I plan to drive whatever it is on trips with my wife like we have done in our C6ZR1 (which will stay in the garage). So my question is who here are looking at the ZR1/ME vs other cars? The C8 can wait for now since there is too much unknown and it doesn't exist yet.

Z06?? Me
If the ME is a new car from the ground up why would they even have a Z06 option? I do wonder if GM will raid the parts bin though.

If there ain't no Mid Engine Corvette in the works then GM has wasted a whole lot of money running around in something that looks like an experimental something and there a whole lot of people wasting their time including the folks at Bowling Green
