C7 Z06 v. C8 Z06 - Both Stock
C7 Z06 v. C8 Z06. The C7 is a M7 and seems to win. Wondering everyone’s thoughts on this video of the two roll racing. YouTube video attached.

We all have our own opinions and I respect everyone' but this C7 Z06 in my HONEST opinion looks 100% better than the one pictured in the previous post.

ehh hard to say, never liked roll racing just because its never 100% even usually. but in theory it would be pretty close overall up top like 50-130 or so.
the c8 z is faster stock in the 1/4 mile then the c7 z according to GM numbers and I would of guessed that as well simply because it can launch better and shift faster. the lack of torque wont hurt it too much since it can launch hard then the hp kicks in to drive it home.

The C8 Z wasn't designed for straight line speed. Actually a base C8 is more fun at legal speeds than a C8 Z.
In the video I can tell the C7 is a M7, auto would have walked away, off the line? no a chance for the C7.

650 lbs of torque tough to beat, once the C7Z gets its traction it is a beast and a bit too much from a roll for the C8Z.

Jim Mero commented a couple years ago that a lot of the improved track times would be due to change in tire technology. I hadn't seen the times at Willow Springs, definitely appears to support or validate what Jim said. It also explains why GM has not pursued or posted the Nürburgring track times for the C8Z, there were C8Z test time's reported that it was over 7:10 mins, basically the unofficial time that Jim got with the C7Z. The hopes was that the C8Z would crack into the 6 min mark at the ring.
Looking at the Willow Springs list it appears the Tesla Plaid is now the fastest, and as far as front engine cars are concerned the old Dodge Viper ACR is still in the top 5 fastest times.

The C8Z06 has a 5.56 rear end and more than 15-1 over low. The C7Z06 m7 is 7.83 over all low the A8 is 10.99 over all low giving the C8 Z06 a huge boost on the start.
But once rolling the gearing advantage is gone and the C7Z06 can compete and win on rolling starts which are power to weight. Which the C7Z06 compares well!

Either way, these vettes are amazing and fun to drive! Not sure if I'd ever be able to push my Z06 to its limits. Not sure I'm brave enough and not willing to wreck it. Just enjoying the heck out of it in my comfort zone! Every time I drive my Z06, it puts a big smile on my face!!

Also in my honest opinion the C7 Z06 is 100% better looking than the Mid Engine C8 Z06 even if they both are similar performance wise.

That looked pretty close and the C7's shifts hurt it. I expected the C8Z and it's 8,600 RPM redline to pull away up top. The C8 is much better at putting the power down and will kill the C7Z off the line, I can't go WOT in 1st or 2nd without losing traction.
I think the C8Z looks great and if I didn't already own a C7Z I'd purchase a C8Z over a C7Z.

Looks are subjective. The C8 has never grown on me, thus, I’ve not bought one. In my opinion, both the C7 and C6 looks better than the C8.
But this thread is about the apparent nearness in performance of the C8 and C7, and thoughts there on.

Would be interesting to see a stock C6z vs a c8z. Had a C6z and actually thought it charged harder up top with its lighter weight then my c7z

Even if the blowers were the same size, at those speeds, the somewhat small weight delta isn’t such a big factor. Drag force matters more up there.
Shame on you for calling her miss piggy.
