Washed my key FOB
Key FOB went through the washing machine in my pants pocket. I didn't realize it until car alarm started going off. 2016 Z06 convertible. FOB worked initially then quit. Tried to dry out the internals with a hair dryer, did not work. Convertible top kept coming down on its own. Horn kept honking three times. Disconnected battery and ordered new FOB. Very expensive mistake.

You could try to take it apart and put it in a ziplock with rice and leave it to dry out and try again

Rice is a myth for electronics. It doesn't actually absorb anything. Why it works for some people is because most people remove power and allow the device to sit before applying power back to it. The biggest issue is corrosion and short circuiting. If you can remove all power, clean it, and dry it you will usually be fine. 99% isopropyl is the best to use to clean as it won't cause a short circuit and will evaporate quickly.
I used to do board level repairs on for nearly 10 years in my previous career.

yeah pull it apart let it dry a bit check / replace battery as well if not over 3 volts. may start working again.
at worse now you will have 2 working ones which its always good to have a set instead of just one for matters like this.

Agree with above. You gave up too soon. Dry it out more and put a new battery in the fob. Just one little drop of water in the wrong place can cause a short. Smell the fob, does it smell like burned electronics? Visually inspect the board. If all that passes I'd stay at it.

I have resurrected both Corvette and Porsche fobs by rinsing with distilled water and then drying. Soak if for a day, then repeat a couple more times. Blow it out with air, let dry for a day.

Take it apart, remove battery and circuit board. Spray all components liberally with an electric contact cleaner, such as CRC brand. Let it totally dry, then repeat again. Let it sit for a few hours in a low humidity environment, like in your house in lieu of the garage work bench. Be sure to use contact cleaner, not Lectra Clean, which is oily. It should be fine.
