2019 SC Lid replacement by GM
I've been to this dealer before for an oil change however my dad took the car previously due to scheduling conflicts. He told me everything was fine, no issues. About a month later when cleaning the car up for a show I opened the hood and saw marks on the lid. Looks like some type of liquid was brought across the engine and went down on the lid. Then when driven home it got hot and baked onto the lid. I have pics but can't add them now. Def. were not gouge marks as they had no depth when you ran your finger across them they were raised up. At the time car probably have 1000 miles on it. So few days ago I took the car in for an oil change and when I arrived talked to the service manager and showed him. He said the vette tech is meticulous and denied him doing anything were a liquid would be brought over the engine like I thought. Anyway they are going to replace the lid. Wondering If I can get the lid with marks or will they keep it or need to send it back as an exchange?? Car has 1640 miles now.

Got a message yesterday that the lid is in, now just need to find the time and pray for good weather to get the car out there. I was beginning to think they didn't order it.

Going on the 5th at 8am to get it changed. Got me in pretty quick. I called this morning and they called back within 10 mins. Does anyone else stay by the car when it's getting worked on? I know for insurance reasons your not to be back there but do some of you guys get away with it?

In the end, remember it's just a car. I know we Corvette owners tend to be OCD, however you need to trust the service tech will do the right thing. I would however check the car over, including engine bay, after they deliver the car back to you and before you leave the dealership.
If you get your original SC lid back and there is no damage beside the stain, you may want to paint it for some additional engine bay bling.

While Ive always had a good experience with my dealer I always question (in my head) if the corvette tech is actually doing the oil changes. For something like this I bet they put oil changes on the rookies and utilize the corvette tech for more complex projects. Things that make you go hmmmm.

I arrived early yesterday and they took the car in immediately. I was back out the door at 8:45am. Checked car over and signed the paperwork. Talked to the tech who said he had no idea how it happened. I didn't want to argue with him or anyone there so I didn't say much while he talked about it. They said they had to send the old one back since it's a warranty replacement. While I was waiting a salesman was trying to talk me into a c8 they had on grounds which I thought was funny.
As far as watching someone do work I feel like your paying them to do something that is their profession so they shouldn't have an issue with you watching what they do. If your worried about someone "standing over you" guess your not a professional then.

Yeah, changing the lid is a 15 minute job. I’d like to think they really want your C7 given the market. Less so than selling you the C8.
