GM Performance Air Box
Has any installed the GM Performance Air Intake upgrade box in the Z? I had my local Chevy dealer do it while getting an oil change. The check engine light came on within an hour of driving the car after I left the dealership. I returned to the dealership immediately. They’ve had the car for 2 days and can’t figure out what is wrong.

Yes, there shouldn't be a code thrown for the GM Airbox. Assuming your car is stock? No ported TB?
The Corvette doesn't require an ECU flash for the GMPI. There was a short window of Z06's that were extra sensitive to additional airflow I think it was only some 2016 models and GM released an update for the ECU that resolved that issue. What would happen is owner would install an aftermarket intake and the car would throw a code because it sensed too much airmass at a given throttle angle.
Anyhow, has the Dealer provided any info on the codes? Codes could be unrelated.

Please provide the year of the car and the error code.
2017 cars had a problem with the new calibration that was added that the MAF sensor readings went out of spec and triggered a P0106 code. Putting on any performance intake would lower the conditions needed to reach that MAF out of range threshold.
There is a TSB on this along with a dealer reprogram fix.

I think you should turn the ignition on but keep the motor off, remove fuses 16 and 23, then turn the ignition off, and replace the fuses.
These codes basically result from unmetered air bypassing the MAF. Removing the fuses will reset to baseline numbers and allow the computer to "learn" the new mixtures.
Also make sure the bands at the connections are tight.

My Chevy dealer fixed this issue. They told me the box they installed was defective and installed a new one. I question that statement. The corvette mechanic probably made some phone calls and found out he had to do a reflash on the ECM or something to that effect.

Yeah that sounds a bit fishy, but all good now that it is fixed
