Default Sticky clutch need help

Have a 2016 z w 17,000 miles no track use. I’ve been having a small issue with the clutch pedal not returning to the top position after being depressed when I first start driving. The clutch function and shifting are fine and this appears to a pedal
issue (all above the point of actuation). Do I just need some lube? Or what is this? Thx

If I’m reading correctly….the pedal gets better as you drive and the car warms up/doesn’t stick?

Change the fluid first (I’m assuming it’s original from 2016)

Search Ranger Method on the forum and YouTube. Your clutch fluid needs changed.

Easiest solution to try first. Doing the Ranger fluid change has been SOP for all of my Z cars going back to the 2001 Z06. If never done before, it might take several changes over a short duration of time driving between changes.

The stick is all above the point where the clutch actually separates the engine from the trans. Fluid flush will help that? I am familiar w the aspiration of the fluid and pumping the clutch x number of times and re doing this several times. So no one thinks this is pedal spring lube issue?

Before you do anything check the clutch fluid reservoir. I bet its empty. Fill it up pump it a few times I bet it will go back to normal. Same exact thing happened to me.

I always start with the easiest "fixes" first and work my way up to more complicated/expensive options.

Ranger

or modified/improved Ranger

are both pretty easy, relatively quick, and inexpensive. I'd try at least one of those before assuming the problem is more complicated.

Default Ronnie got it

So I went to go do clutch flush and pump and lo and behold the freakin reservoir was empty. maybe the damn cover wasn’t on correctly? Why else would reservoir be empty? There’s never been fluid on the floor. anyway while car is parked sticking seems to be gone. I couldn’t drive now as there is a freakin major horrendous rain storm in Miami now.

Like I said fill the reservoir with fluid and you're good. No need to do any of that other stuff mentioned unless you plan on replacing all the fluid. You're welcome.

I respectfully disagree. The fact that the reservoir was empty indicates the system could have air in it. Given the car's age and probability the fluid's never been changed, it's likely to have absorbed moisture. Ideally, the clutch should be properly bled. Given the complexity and cost, (modified/improved) Ranger is in order.

Like I said. If you want the problem to go away just add brake fluid. If you want to do a complete overhaul do the ranger method. Most people are just going to add fluid and have a nice day. To each there own.
