No, there is a different sticker under the hood for California emissions compliance. However, there are ways to register a Federal emissions compliant car. Check the DMV website for details.

BTW, there is NO equipment difference. Just the sticker.

So there is not a way to tell by the VIN? Only if it has a label?

If bringing a used car into California it doesn’t matter if it has California or 50 state emissions. Only applicable if brand new or under 7,000 miles and some sort of age if I recall. It will tell you on the dmv.ca website but a 16 is safe.

To be classified as used, the car needs to have a minimum to 7500 miles.

Don't forget you'll have to pay tax on it here, though you can declare the amount of the sale and just put in thirty grand as the sale price or whatever. Still worth it to just buy in state

All GM vehicles are 50 state compliant from the 2001 model year. You are good! I have done this many times over the years and they have all passed California emissions.

The dealer I bought it from collected Cali state taxes and fee's. I did get them to send me a picture of the under hood emissions label and it did have the California compliance on it. I am now the proud owner of a 2016 Z with 4100 miles. Just have to wait for it to get shipped.
