Default 2016 z06 all 4 oem shocks gone-advice?

Hi experts, I went to get my oil changed at my trusted garage and they showed me the oil leaking from three of the four shocks at 29935 miles! What the heck? Four one shows smalls leak starting.

Oem shocks at dealer will be $675 a piece plus install. Any suggestions on replacements? I don’t track but drive aggressively in the mountain corners we have here.

thanks for your input! Stay healthy! Al

Take some pictures and post them up. Per specification they can show oil on the exterior. Whether this is normal or they are shot will depend on the amount of oil.

Do a search, the bulletin has been posted before.

Is “your shop” experienced with the latest GM mag suspension?

Did you lower the car? I've seen it happen several times on lowered cars. The shock bottoms out and beats it up.

I have been told these weep and it is normal. 3 out of my 4 are weeping as well. No oil on the ground and my dealer says a warranty would probably be denied. My car has 65,000 miles.

Default Interesting Comments

The passenger side front is weeping badly along with the back right Front driver is very slight and driver back is staining the shock it self.

no oil in garage which is stays For days between rides but the wheel has accumulated some oil stains and on the “arm” he said. He showed me and I should have taken pics when on the rack.

maybe I’ll take it to the Chevy dealer where we have a Corvette specialist. Thanks All.

Id say take that money and buy full coilovers. Adjustable ride height and dampening.

we are researching after market options but I want the ride control to still work through the ****. I was told if you get those upgraded suspensions shocks with colivers, it would not work with the drive mode selector. Is this correct? Thanks

You can get the DSC tractive shocks and their controller but it ain't cheap. I've been running them for several years and love them.

mag ride simulators arent reliable apparently. And coilovers are **** for street driving when compared to mag ride.

I have Coilovers and while they are badass at track I really miss the mag ride when on the street. Yes Coilovers have the adjustable heights but anytime you mess with height you need to realign again so no I would say stick with mag ride. I’m fixing to go back to my mag ride now that I’ve accomplished everything I set out to do with car.

I noticed just going to GM parts.com they seem much cheaper. Thanks

I may use cultrag vendor I’ve purchased from them and they are pretty low in cost for GM Oem stuff. Any other suggestions for vendors?

Cultrag is not always the cheapest but I think he has the best customer service. He's good before and after the sale. I highly recommend using him.

Figure out the OE shock number you need, then figure out the AC Delco replacement number. Google the AC number

are the AC Delco OEm?... and iwould it be cheaper to get from the ac Delco directly ?

GM parts show cheaper than Cultrag. Would love some help in this AC Delco option if it’s better or OEM. I know they use the AC Delco oil filters. Thanks
