Stupid oil question
Ok, manual calls for 0-40W Mobil 1, no problem you say? I've run M1 0-40W Euro formula in my C6Z for years. But I see there is a M1 0-40W Dexos2 blend and that is what we are supposed to run in the C7Z??? I can buy as many gallons of the Euro formula I want all day long, but do not see the Dexos2 formula anywhere. Do I have to buy that at the dealer? Is the Euro formula actually the same thing as Dexos2? This shouldn't be this hard-LOL!

0w40 ESP is what you are looking for if you want to run the Mobil 1 oil.

The oil thing has been beaten to death.
If you're OCD about your car, stick with what the manual says.
I use whatever is on sale and is dexos 1 gen 2. I used motul in my Z, valvoline, M1 EP, castrol, all were dexos 1 gen2.
Ironically, the castrol "seemed" to make my engine the quietest. And M1 making it the loudest.

If you dont track, Mobil 1 5w30 works just fine and is also recommended by GM. You can buy it at Wal-Mart.

From what I’ve read here, the Euro formula has a higher amount of a certain component (ash?) that is bad for the catalytic converters.
Get the ESP stuff from Speedway motors at the link above. That’s what most of us do.

The head Mobil 1 Engineer for Corvette Racing told me the Mobil 1 Dexos 2 0W-40 is the recommended oil for street/track use in my '19 ZO6, that's all I need to know.

Just as well run 15-50 on track and 5-30 on street.

Thanks everybody for your help. Spedway will get my next oil change, I'm getting some from my local dealer today, since we are heading to the track on Friday.

Summit is a little cheaper and if you buy 2 cases (which you will need), shipping is free.

I run 15-50 Mobil 1 year round in my 16Z06. Yes it’s modded to 702/734 rw. I ran the same oil in 3 C6’s 2 of which were Z06 with forged motors. I have never had an issue with any of those motors. Food for thought

I'm going to the track this weekend. Car is just hitting 1500 miles, so I kinda want to do the stay in warranty thing. Sorry if this has been beaten to death, it is on every car forum. But to be honest the search engine showed very little. My basic question remains, is the Euro M1 O-40 a dexos 2 oil or not? I do not see any 0-40 ESP at any of the car stores, and we have them all and I've looked. Shrug

Go to your dealer parts department and order the oil. Make sure they are ordering the correct oil as some parts departments may have not gotten the message on which oil comes standard in 2019 Corvettes. Last time I changed the oil the dealer charged me about $11 per quart.
