Default 2019 Z06 Z07 with or without the brake duct kit?

Hello!
I am trying to figure out whether or not the 2019 Z06/z07 did definitely come with the brake duct kit from the factory? Mine did not and trying to figure out if it was a mistake, lost by dealer, or possibly would they have installed the kit? I haven't checked yet. Is there an easy way to tell without jacking the car up?

I was just going to buy this to just have the complete set of what was supposed to be included.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/283551562141

Thanks

As far as I know GM discontinued the front brake cooling duct kit and they’re not included with the cars anymore. I have a 2019 ZO6 that I bought in July 2018. The brake cooling duct kit was in the rear hatch area in plastic bags. It did not come installed on the car.

Should be in the trunk. Not sure if it fits but also check the cubby in the rear left of the trunk.

I took delivery of my 2019 Z06 with Z07 package in July of 2018 as well and I had the kit. My dealership installed all the Stage 3 components, the brake ducts and the GM Jake CAI I ordered during PDI. However, before driving off the lot I had to remind them to give me my Stage 2 front winglets as they forgot to put those back in the car.

I have a feeling they may have already installed the kit. Is there an easy way to see if it's installed without jacking it up? And is there a downside to having it installed all the time?

No downside. At all. Lay down infront of the car and see if you can see a black plastic 3" by 3" square on the lower control arm.

Photo below is what the brake duct looks like under the car when viewed from the front of the vehicle on driver side. You can see a rectangular plastic inlet which hangs down about 1-2 inches lower than the level of the undertray.

Some 2019 cars came from GM with the brake duct kit installed and no regular kit in the trunk. There is a TSB that would have you take the car to the dealer to install the regular kit and give you the track kit.

My 2018 came with them in the trunk and I installed them myself. My 2019 came with them installed and no regular kit parts. I didn't bother with the TSB because I just leave the duct kit installed all the time.

Yep, per the pics above you can see them if you look underneath the front splitter and you can also feel them by reach in front of the wheels. I read that GM didn't recommend them for street driving as they could suck additional debris into the brake area potentially damaging the rotors, etc. Not sure how high of a risk it is, but I've been running mine for close to two years with no issues. However I'm sure someone has probably sucked up a plastic bag by now.

Also - if someone can confirm that I have the track duct kit installed, can you send me a link to where I can purchase the regular brake kit?

My other option is to have dealer under a service bulletin?

Thanks

Yes that is it... There is absolutely no reason to get rid of it for city driving. It does nothing bad to the car. Maybe if you drive in deep snow it will scoop some up.

Ok great! If i wanted to buy the regular non-track kit, is that available to buy?

Is this the regular/street kit? Or is it something else. I think I want to just own the regular kit to as well. Thanks!

There really isn't any such thing as a street kit. Originally, the Z06 came with the so called street kit. That kit was installed at the factory and consisted of three parts that made up an air deflector that directed under car air and air from the grille brake duct toward the rotors.

In 2017 GM provided a better solution that was added to the car when the owner took it to the track. They said to take it off when not on the track. That kit consisted of the box section you have pictured and a duct that passed between the lower control arm and upper control arm with the outlet pointed at the center rear of the rotor. There was also a replacement air deflector that was mounted on the front of the lower control arm. There wasn't much difference between it and the previous deflector. On the original Z06 setup there was also a small deflector attached to the knuckle that was directly behind the rotor. When you converted from the original style to the new track style that deflector was left in place.

Non Z07 cars also got a set of wheel blockers which kept air from escaping from between the rotor and the wheel thus forcing it to pass through the rotor. Z07 cars didn't get the blockers, maybe due to the increased diameter of the rotors., maybe for other reasons.

If you want to convert to what you call a street kit you don't need to purchase anything. Just remove the box collector that is fastened to the lower control arm and the duct that goes from it up to the back side of the rotor. There is so little difference between the air deflectors there is no reason to change them to the old style. Street driving doesn't really get the brakes hot enough that you really need any of the deflectors.

I have a 15 Z06 and when the new kit became available in 2017 I purchased it and installed it on my 15. Three years later it is still on the car and doesn't do anything detrimental to the brakes. However, I did notice an improvement in on track brake cooling.

'19 here, my brake duct kit was in the hatch in 2 plastic bags. I ordered my car, and the Dealer kept me completely in the loop on every step, the Aero parts ( front splitter, rear spoiler and wickerbill and side skirts) are delivered separately and installed by the Dealer, the brake duct kit is shipped with the car but not installed. The brake ducts aren't that difficult to install for track days, but I wouldn't leave them on for street use.
