Any change to gas mileage using Rev Matching?
I know it's a stupid question (I tried searching but couldn't find anything), but since I love using rev matching, I was wondering if anyone has ever noticed or maybe even calculated any difference in gas mileage when using rev matching. I'm assuming/guessing this, because when you down shift, the rev blip does the equivalent of heel/toe driving where you blip the accelerator/throttle to manually rev match. So I'm assuming that the computer is shooting some extra gas to allow for the increase in revs. Any thoughts?

The amount of fuel used is minimal. One would have to be traveling slowly and blipping a lot to detect any change in gas mileage.

Why buy or drive a Z06 and even give this a thought.

If it were my guess it uses a bit more than people think. Especially in the city where you’re constantly changing gears. That’s just my guess though from my observations. But I have no data to prove it. But like mentioned. I don’t think many people care if it uses more fuel. Active rev match is outstanding!! I have it on pretty much all the time. Windows down/or top off, and just banging through gears. Throw an x pipe or exhaust in the mix and it’s as much fun as you can have with clothes on. Hopefully you get a more data based answer to your question but at the end of the day. Smiles per gallon over miles per gallon. Especially in a Z06. So go rip it and enjoy!

Some people are just curious about things. Nothing wrong with that.
Auto-rev-matching probably uses about the same amount of gas as rev matching manually, but uses more gas than slipping the clutch to bring the engine up to speed when shifting to a lower gear, which is all many people who are not performance enthusiasts know how to do anyway..

Drifting
It no doubt uses less fuel than simply using AC
It sounds so cool I wouldn't care if it reduced mileage by a full mile per gallon
Just getting into full boost on this engine for 3 seconds straight is probably the same amount of fuel as rev matching on a 3 hour long drive

I've driven with and without rev matching on my daily drives to work and have not seen any appreciable difference in week to week. The amount of traffic you encounter will make a far larger impact on mileage than some rev matching mechanism. My own personal shifting keeps me within 200rpm of the right gear, I got knocked on by family members for rough shifts when I was younger so after a lifetime, I've gotten really good at smooth shifting that can feel like an auto shift in smoothness, up or down.
My mother thought our new family car was an auto when she rode with us in the back. I work really hard to shift seamlessly on my wife's car since we got it when she was pregnant and at the time I did not want to injure our baby with rough shifts and the seatbelt near the baby's head. Now that my son rides in the back, I shift smoothly to keep him asleep and comfortable on our road trips.
For the C7 rev matching, enjoy the feature. My wife has a harder time with my car due to the power difference and she turns on the rev matching to keep me less stressed when I'm with her and not driving.

Rev match doesn't really activate all that much when driving around town. Most in town driving can be done in 4th and 5th gears so there is very little downshifting that needs to be done. If in 4th gear and approaching stopped traffic let off throttle or brake to slow down to about 20 mph, then while maintaining the brake input and push in clutch to brake to a stop. Sometimes you may get a throttle pulse when the clutch is pushed in sometimes you won't. If in 5th let off the throttle to slow the car and determine if you need to brake or just let the engine slow the car. Once the speed drops into the range where 4th and 5th have a lot of overlap downshift to 4th. A lot of times the throttle won't blip.

By the way, I penned the first response to the OP noting the fuel used is minute.
