They come in auto's now but didn't at the time i was looking. The gray one's are quite menacing! But do what makes you happy. U only live once....Also, had a CTSV too, a hell of a car and quite the "sleeper". Most don't know what they are. Truely something to consider if u can find one.
Was your ZL1 auto or stick?

I had an A8 model before my M7Z I have now and it was pure garbage. Though there is no way it's going to be an even swap for your car. It's going to be your car value plus $10K easy.
I love my A8 3LZ...under hard throttle applications it shifts like a monster in D and when I am just playing/cruising I always roll in M with the nannies off and she is great fun. Plus the A8 is faster/quicker.

That is one of those beauty is in the eye questions. Personally I love my 3LZ A8 Vert and would never consider owning a camaro (did own a '67 SS 396 back when I was a young Marine, a long time ago). If/when I get out of my Z car it will probably be to move up to a 911 Turbo S or a McLaren or possibly a Red 458 Spider.

My ZL1 was an auto. I too live in so. Florida. Too many people to be shifting all the time! The good thing about the standard ZL1 opposed to the 1le are the the additional options available to it. Example, sunroof and carbon fibre trim. Mine had both. You're limited on the 1le. Also, my current ZO6 is an auto and it's far from "garbage " or"junk". The car is extremely quick!

I'll be retired soon and will have to get another "daily" driver if you will. I don't drive my vette to work but it's otherwise a grocery getter. My 91 454ss gets about 10mpg so it's not very practical. So I will get another pickup or a ZL1 1LE(auto). Vettes tires don't last to long but the mpg is great.

sunroof is just extra weight where you don’t want it!

to each his own, but I don’t get having an auto (unless it’s a dct sports car) on a weekend car.

i doubt the AC is better on GM’s Camaro vs a Vette.

The CTS-V was my track car until I got the Z06 and never really had any issues with the A8. I find it does better in heavier cars, in my 18' sierra w/ 6.2, it is smoother than the 4L60E in my 01 silverado.
As far as the A10 I drove in that Zl1 vs my CTS-V w/ the A8, I can say that the A10 shifts faster than the A8 but marginally so. I found the A10 hunted for gears (in the mountains atleast) far more than the A8 which was really annoying. Not to mention, when you punch it the delay is marginally higher as it drops through the gears to rocket off.

I wouldn't rule out the CTS-V just because of the A8

I too had a ctsv3 A8 and currently have a M7 Z06, A8 Z06 and an M6 Zl1 (2018). The A8 in my V3 was a joke, the A8 in my 17z is a joke and no fun. My modded C7Z M7 is where it’s at and truth be told I absolutely hate the M6 in my Zl1 and will be dumping that and getting an A10! I got so disgusted with the auto’s in gm’s performamce line up that I made a mistake and opted for the M6 in the Zl1 instead of the better A10. Get the A10 Zl1 and don’t look back!

Agreed my A8 3LZ is a monster when your foot is in it and the crisp shifts have a beautiful sound, feel, and zero to be complained about. Using the paddles in 'M' or 'D' makes it feel as if there is no sense of urgency and I only use the downshift if I use them at all. I have found that stabbing the throttle (not to the floor) in 'D' at the right point just prior to the shift wakes the trans performance considerably without being WOT. Garbage to describe the A8 is a little too critical IMO but these are the days we live with all opinions sounding very polar. I'd would prefer a DCT feel in the paddles. This is the first auto I've had in a performance vehicle and I was simply tired of shifting in traffic and frequently dirty clutch fluid. Not disappointed but waiting for the DCT and flat plane in 2021. It sounds SO good in the camo vids.

I love the looks and stats of the ZL1 but I prefer the lighter Z06 and although I'm not young, I still can get in and out of the Z06 fairly easily.

Damn those v3 ctsv's are so nice!!! How I wish it had a zf but even then. A 4 door luxury corvette? Damn. Gets me thinking.
