Default Met my goal of 9's on stock pulley setup!

I hardly EVER get on the forums anymore after becoming self employed and starting up my tuning business. With that said we got a 16' C7Z 1LZ A8 car to play with last year and instantly threw a couple mods at it first being the 2" Kooks off road header/x pipe setup and a Holley iNTech cai and a DSX flex fuel setup. Made a couple passes on some 18" drag radials and that car went stupid quick for the mods (in my opinion) at 10.12@133. After seeing that I ordered a drag pack and decided to go for a 9 on stock boost. We are in Charlotte so waited around for street car takeover to see if it would hit the number but the temps were around 98 degrees. Still went 10.1/2 every pass that weekend. So decided to wait for better air and we did just that. I tested at a local 1/8 mile track several times throughout the summer/fall running consistent 6.4's@108.

This past Saturday at Darlington Dragway in SC I knew the weather would be ideal (-1060DA) so I Finally got the car to hook in the cool air and here ya go!

MOD RECAP: Carlyle spindle kit with 17' MT et street r's, 2" Kooks headers and off road mid, Holley iNTech cai and DSX FF kit (42% for these runs)
All tuning and mods done by me at SS LSX Tuning and Performance.

Car put down 601/652 SAE on our dynojet in 90* weather. It is a 1LZ so it has none of the aero stuff and it weighed 3530 on our scales without me (170).

1.39 60'
6.34 660' @110
9.89 1320' @137

I was pleased to say the least and now we can start modding the car a little more now!

Killer passes for minor bolt ons!

Its funny to see you made the cross over to c7s from C5s as well...(I assume you still have the C5 turbo car)… Quite a few of the old guys from C5 FI section are here now...

Great numbers. I was at Concord SCT and don't remember seeing you there, but it was crowded. I was in my 19 ZR1. I still had the engine out of my 16 Z06. I'm looking for 8's there next spring or we might go down to Carolina right after the new year.

Thanks man I remember all the old C5 forum days I loved that lol and I did sell the C5 to help fund my business venture. I’m building a drag radial mustang (shhhh lol) to get down and dirty with as a “race car” and I’ll continue to play with the C7 as well.

I made it to 1/4 finals in the 140 roll racing and got put out 1st round of 10.0 class lol. Sounds like a plan. Our shop is in Concord.

Hell yes, now throw one our Magnuson 2650 Heartbreakers on there and really low 9's are in your 2020 future.

how many tenths can be Knocked off from let’s say a full aero (3LZ car) to a 1LZ. Roughly.

No idea on the aero part of it, don't even know if it would pick up at all. Love the white vets with the drag packs. Looks nasty fast

Aero is an interesting question. It really doesn’t come into play positive nor negative until the back end of the track. Curious to see what others say. I know we learned with the c6 that a narrow body front, no lip, wide body rear was an awesome combo for 1/4 and 1/2 because of less downforce on the front. Less drag overall and plenty of safe downforce.

600 whp and 137 trap speed, that's impressive. That's about the same if not more than HCI C6 Z's with the same power. I think being stage 1 aero really makes a huge difference in these cars once the speed get up there. There are a lot of cars with more power running lower trap speeds on here so I think this really shows how much the areo on these cars hold them back in straight line acceleration.

I totally agree the aero package makes a huge difference, probably more difference than most people think. I’ll bet 2 to 4 mph came from the aero package as opposed to a stage 3 aero running the exact same mods. The difference becomes even more apparent when running half mile and mile distances.

With the C7 Z you see cars with power levels running slower than they should be quite often, as opposed to lets say a heads cam C6 Z06 which pretty much all run similar times with similar power levels. Same thing with lets say a GTR. You'll see a FBO E85 GTR constantly hitting 133-135 1/4 mile and low 160's half mile. With the C7 Z you see a 5-7 mph difference quite often, and in my opinion it's almost always due to aero. The stage 2 and 3 aero wing in the back must really be creating a lot of lag at the higher speeds.

I'm at 700whp and stage 1 aero, I would be interested in seeing what I would trap at the 1/4 and 1/2. I would think close to 140 in the 1/4 and high 160's in the half.

With the difference in down force between stage I and stage III it would be interesting to see a car with lets say 700 plus wheel make passes in all 3 stages then remove aero packages to measure the results within the 3 stages. Just my .2
