Any regrets getting a C7/Z06?
Greetings. New member. Coming from a 2005 Pontiac GTO that's finally starting to annoy me enough to seriously contemplate giving it up. Looking down the road and hoping with the influx of the new C8, the C7s will be substantially discounted around the Spring time when I'd be looking to purchase. Between the C7 and possibly even the Camaro ZL1 (seeing as the GT500 is coming out as well), it might be a good time to buy. I'm sure there's going to be a bit of bias, but have any of you had gripes or even gone to the point of regretting getting the Z? Poor build quality? Poor infotainment? Little nagging issues here and there that make you wonder if the car is going to pop a CEL every time you drive it (oh, wait, that's my GTO).
I know it's a ways off, but I'm starting to plan now since it's a big purchase. I have to say, my confidence in GM is a bit shaken after the GTO. But, I do enjoy wrenching on GM cars (seem to make the most sense to me). And it's not like Ford and Mopar don't have their own share of issues. Please feel free to air your grievances (or compliments) here ... I'm open to any and all opinions.

Guess I will play devils advocate. I have regrets buying my 2019Z. Note this is by no way knocking on the car as it is a great performance machine, just my personal opinion. I bought this new daily driver replacing my old S2000. “For me” this was a big mistake.
I just can’t seem to fall for this car at all. This isn’t even an exact problem with this car just new cars in general. All newer cars are just getting more and more disconnected from the driver. Just driving this around town is boring for me as you can never really use any of the cars potential. To do so puts your license at risk and you look like an *** flying around. You get almost zero feedback on what the car is doing through the steering wheel. You can only increase the levels of resistance. For me there is no enjoyment just driving this car around town as it does not bring any excitement at low speeds.
The power of this car is intoxicating and when you can really open her up she is a blast. Same things on mountain runs the car is epic up there. I am sure on track it is as amazing as well. However if this is your street car I would look else where unless you are just wanting gobs of power. To me it is a constant exercise of restraint when driving to and from work. The adage “More fun to drive a slow car fast then a fast car slow “ has never been more true.

Zero regrets. 2019Z M7. I thought I loved my 2012 Grand Sport. I ABSOLUTLEY LOVE my C7Z. Car makes me smile everytime I drive it. My '12 was trouble free for 7 years. I have no doubt the '19 will be every bit as trouble free. The car is everything I hoped it would be, it is everything I want it to be and it is more than I ever expected.

Thanks folks. Any issues with the infotainment/screen? I remember seeing that they were problematic a while back. Was it only certain years? Fixed? Any issues with the A8 (I'm done with manuals)?

You prob wont hear from people with regrets, they have probably left this place before they even sold their Z.

I have at 2015 Z06/Z07 about 1,300 miles on the clock. Only regret I have is buying it towards the end of the British summer, so I've only had the chance to really give it some full throttle once and now it'll probably stay in the garage until spring!

Drifting
to 'use' the potential of the S2000 on the streets wouldn't you have to be ripping around town at 6-9000 rpm's?????
That little dinker can't be much fun at realistic street rpm levels below 4000. It probably makes 27 foot pounds at 2000 rpm's on a good day.
I'll take my 550 at 2000 rpm's

I loved my first Vette - a 2014 Stingray LT3. I kept telling myself that was plenty of car/horsepower for me. But it kept gnawing at me - what would more horsepower feel like, would I ever even use the extra power?
Well - the answer is YES. I've had a beautiful 2015 Z06 LT2 for over a year now and absolutely love it! It's amazing how just in everyday driving that extra push back into the seat to get around another car feels SO GOOD. I've tracked the car 4 times and that is amazing!

No not at all, just a car that brings engagement at low speeds. The Z just does not bring that and does not feel special. There are cars out there that feel special and fun to drive all the time not just when going all out. Not every thing is about power. To each their own.
