I'll be honest, I thought about it ... but I drove my beast into work today (long commute) and couple things went through my mind.
1) I received compliments in the parking lot from co-workers on how beautiful my car is !!
2) It is paid off so not really liking the hit I'll take trading it for a C8 Z51 and really don't want the car payments.
3) I can't see or figure out how 495 HP/470 TQ HP mid-engine is going to compete with my 650 HP/650 TQ. Yes, it may be quick off the line but I really need to see what happens after 60 mph and real world numbers. My best real world 0-60 record was 3.3 sec, not too shabby for this rear drive car.
4) Not going to lie, I do love the DCT and interior finish of the C8, but looking at my C7Z, it is still looking really nice inside with some great technology.
5) Did I mention the power of this torque monster? Not sure how it will compare to a C8 Z51 until I drive/ride in one but in current form it is a blast to drive.
6) With all the hype and as the days pass, I feel like the market will be flooded in a few years with these cars and then I can see how pricing goes. When I was researching my 2017 Z06, I waited for the so called cooling fix in late 2016 when I could have picked up a nice used 2016 for a very good price and saved some money over new. I love my Z06 and can't seem to let it go without some time with it. As of today, I am going to wait and see how the C8 progresses. I don't need the newest model right out of the gate. Even the C7Z progressed with some improvements. Just IMHO , The C8Z will be a beast and by then the C8 Z51 will be in the $50k range. I'll be much more educated instead of having to have the first one on the block. I'm truly blessed to have and own a 2017 Z06

There are new models announced every year. People who are happy with their Z06's will likely not be thinking about it, people who are unhappy might not be thinking about it either. Also, if I had a 2015 Z06 with 85K on the clock I might have a different view than someone with a 2019 and still on their second oil change.
Me, personally....it will be a cold day in hell before I am an early adopter of a brand new design of a GM car. I'll be allowing some time for the early adopters to complete the beta-testing......like.....a few years......

Melting Slicks
Im within a few people of the longest tenured C7Z owner on the planet (maybe now the longest) and still love my Z as much as the day I bought it.
The C8 is a slick car but I wouldnt trade for it... even straight up.

Because maybe i can just do that, then when the C8Z comes out (maybe the 2nd year run?), my 3 year lease on the Z51 will be over and jump into that.
I just hate the fact that people who never owned a corvette in their life are going to be owning the greatest generation lol. Meanwhile i had a C6 and now a C7 and i wanna wait for the C8Z lol.

But this time i feel different about the "base". It's a whole different machine. Not just a complete design like the C7 from the C6.
This is ALL NEW, everything different, a whole different realm. That's why i'm debating. But i know when they announce the C8Z next spring, i'll regret getting the base. I just hate that people are going to own the new C8's before me lol. Even though i could get one, but i wanna wait for the Z.
Also, everyone is saying the C8's are already sold out. Is that true? Or just social media BS?

I am very interested in what they do with the Z06 equivalent. I know a lot of people are speculating the C8 Z51 will match the C7Z's performance, but even considering the mid engine layout and DCT, I think physics will have the final word there.

It will be 6 years before I buy C8 Z06. The prices will be good and the bugs will be taken care of. I waited for 6 years with my 19Z06. I don’t need the C8 no matter how fast it is and great it looks. I’m enjoying my beast with only 900 miles on it so far. For me it all about numbers and making smart moves when to buy. I don’t have a money tree in my back yard. Lol.

Thanks to the C8 better sports cars for less money will be offered by all the players. I can't wait to see what is in store.
Meanwhile my Z06 torque on tap immediately
means ima doing the boot scoot boogie while the c8's brainiac controller Distributed Fuel Management is just trying decide how many of the eight cylinders will get gas, and how many will suck air. But even with all 8 firing, i've got 90% of the c8's torque at idle, in a shorter, narrower, and lighter z06 package. Instant gratification, i like that.

Why should i give up BOTH to be an unpaid beta tester for GM? The Z06 stays.
Meanwhile my Z06 torque on tap immediately
producing 457 lb-ft (619 Nm) just off idle and 625 lb-ft (847 Nm) by only 2,800 rpm

I'm debating so hard right now lol. Are they offering leases on the C8?
Because maybe i can just do that, then when the C8Z comes out (maybe the 2nd year run?), my 3 year lease on the Z51 will be over and jump into that.

I have owned Corvettes for most of the last 40 years and when the C7Z came out it it the first time I was truly blown away by the look of the car. The performance was and is phenomenal also but the aggressive lines just really move me. If I had to describe the look in one word it would be "predatory" , it just looks like it may just eat you if your not careful. While i am impressed with the new C8 I have never liked the shape of most mid-engine cars and the new Vette is no different. I am sure it will grow on me but for now I have no plans to get rid of my Cyber/Grey Z06

Wait i have a 16 too. Isn't powertrain 5 year 60k?
So technically both of us should have 2 more years powertrain. Unless i'm wrong and if i am, will make my decision much easier on what to do.
But i agree. Cars get better every generation. Technology wasn't as great when the C7 came out and although a huge upgrade from the C6, it's nothing like what we have now. It's just amazing now. That's why the C8 stole the whole automotive market lol.
Everyone is talking about it, everyone wants it, everyone who reviews exotics on youtube, are all over this car lol.
So i feel left out haha.
I am going to inquire about a lease, see what i come up with.
Good luck to you on the C8!! See you in the C8 section soon my brother!
