Anyone own a ZL1 1LE and have track both cars?

The 1le can match a Z06. Its up to the driver at the track. Don't think it's just another Camaro. It's got a real track suspension. Not the half track half comfort the corvettes have and a real wing. A z07 package will take it.
The comment about it running hotter than a Z06? Stock for stock? No freaking way. It runs way cooler. It has more heat exchangers and MUCH better flow through the ones they share with the same engine.
Running 4 seconds faster a lap than my friends 2019 A8, the c7s coolant overheated in under 10 minutes (these have a 50 mm radiator). The Zl1 ended the 20 minute session under 220 peak coolant temp. This is a 1:30 lap. So significant speed difference.

Did you only do 8 laps? Looks like the temps were still climbing every lap..

Don't have it in front of me, but 8 laps plus an out lap is about right yes.
Water was 226,226,225 the last 3 hot laps
Oil was 268,268,270 the last 3 laps
Looks pretty stable to me.
I'll be running at Sebring again on May 18, so will a friend with his 17Z. Will post more temps then.

Sounds good. I think they might have climbed a bit more if you kept driving, but the rate of increase seems to have slowed down. Of course, no one can drive it more than 50 minutes or so, since these monsters run out of gas, but it would be nice to get data from a longer stint : )

Manual. Only used 2nd gear once a lap, coming out of turn 7. Was my first time at Sebring, and about my 15th track day overall, so I'm not using all of the car. Sure am trying though

I was also at the track this Sunday, at Oregon Raceway Park with my '19 Z06/Z07/M7. The taller (than Z51/GS) ratio actually made the second gear pretty useful for me at this track, and I used it quite a bit. I've hit about same oil temps as you, topping at around 268 degrees F oil, and this was within 45 minutes of continuous driving (~22 laps). My coolant temp also stayed around 215s, but the ambient temp was 50-60 degrees F during the day.
I compared my trap speeds on lap 2 vs. lap 20, and they seem to be about same, which I interpret as not getting my timing pulled much, if at all.
I will also make video of one of the laps, tonight, and will share as reference. I suppose I should also compare data of first and last hot laps (but that could be misleading due to changing traction from the tires).
fatsport, what was your average RPM during your laps?

Don't know, is it something I can get from PDR?
Here's some lap data. Best lap was 2:32.7, I was happy with that. It was my first time at Sebring, and I'm pretty new to this. I had never been on a racetrack before going to Spring Mountain for Corvette owner's school last summer
I'll try to eventually put the PDR video of a couple laps up.

Surprised more people on this board haven’t had experience with the ZLE. Seems to be the track toy of choice amongst a lot of previous vette owners on the camaro6 forum.

the Z does look better though. But it's scary how well GM engineered the ZL1, and left us Z guys hanging lol. At least the ZR1 is good.

If you're thinking about tracking as a priority, maybe that is a better bet. If not, then definitely go with a z06. Better street car IMHO.
The GS is dog slow. Still don't understand how anyone can get those cars.

The difference in weight is a major problem for track. Even Corvette has gotten too heavy, and it directly reflects on consumables if not the ultimate handling of the car. I think ZL1 1LE is a bit too heavy : (
#36
Is that coming from experience or just looking at overall numbers? Cause the consumables on the ZLE are far cheaper than anything in its category lap time wise unless your talking a dedicated track car and even then it will be a car making less power with more grip and not usable on the street.

For comparison pics:
HOW-TO: Install larger '19 Z06 (Auto) radiator (link).

Among all these cars, my Z51 with coilovers was the most cost effective; it did lap times faster or on par with any Camaro, and about same as Grand Sports, which is not far from Z06. The difference is that Z06 consumes almost twice as much fuel, and has much higher potential to destroy tires in short order : )) I can't see ZL1 1LE being any easier on consumables.

I do about two track days a month. So just under 20 a year. But I also drive the car to and from and I daily drive it as well. My plan with the GS was to stay N/A. It has been very reliable but it's so expensive to fix if I could the warranty. The LS world was so much more manageable on your own. I do not want a Z06 after seeing how many have been totaled on the track with experienced drivers. The Camaro manages that LT4 power better and from what I read it communicates very well at the limit.
