Just bought this last weekend. Here are pictures of the pads, are the fronts worn? 12k miles. I'm getting the brakes worn message.

That's what I figured, I'm assuming they will be ok for another 100 miles or so of street driving before I can get it to the dealership.

You should have worked new pads into the deal. Pads are not cheap. 12k miles car was tracked a bit. Definitely worn

Chalk that up as a learning experience. Didn't even think of checking pads on a car with 12k miles.

Don’t buy pads from Chevy dealer. Buy them on line for hundreds less and change yourself. My dealer wanted 850 for front pads. You can get them for 550 from a few online parts company’s. Stick with OEM.

Will do, I found AC Delco direct OEM replacements on Amazon. Would those suffice or should I get them from a GM online parts store?

Taking a bit of a risk there with your $1000 (x2) front rotors. Take it easy till you get your new pads.

I had my new-to-me Z06/7 for a couple of weeks now, and I got the warning too, on the last few rides. I'm pretty sure its a broken $40 sensor. But if not, I'm going to have a word with CarMax. They are supposed to sell cars that are good to go. They will be shocked when they see the bill for new pads .

Apparently it's very easy to look into the wheel and see At least for the outer pads.

I'm going to call the dealership I bought the car from last weekend today to see if i have any recourse.

I've been watching CarMax Zs for a while which one did you end up with?

Mine are good. Must be a $40 sensor. I'll get it swapped next time at dealer. Got mine at CarMax in Boynton Beach three weeks back. Was on their site for a few days then vanished. Someone reserved it so I figured it was gone. Then it popped up next day and I reserved it.

No, Shark. See picture above. I hope you are not in for a fight with the dealer you bought from. Was it Chevy?

It was an Audi dealership. They had me sign a CT inspection form saying there were no issues when clearly that wasn't the case. We'll see.

yeah, I guess the fight will be over $500-$600 worth of front pads. They should pay at least half without much fight. They are not suppose to sell you a car with required maintenance needed on day one of your ownership, and not tell you.
Some advice...Be careful with installation... these rotors cost over a grand each, they chip very easy when the wheels are removed or re-mounted. Have a Chevy dealer do it if you don't want to do it yourself, but don't let installers who only know iron do it.

I was contemplating doing it myself this weekend but figured I want it checked out by my local Chevy dealer anyways next week so I may have them tackle it, I'm pretty close with the guys over there after getting a new truck from them.

I'm just debating if I should go back to the sales manager to discuss this or go right to the general manager.

Be advised, not 100% necessary, but would be helpful that whomever takes the wheel on and off to use the foam protector pads that came with the car new. Will help protect the fragile edges of the expensive rotors.
