Default Lowered on stock bolts + 18" rims

I need someone with real, first-hand knowledge if the Z06 (non-Z07) can be fully lowered on stock bolts AND accommodate 18" rims without any suspension interference. And yes I'll have the alignment checked.

Yes I 'searched'. Tons of threads on lowering, but nothing from track guys running 18's.

I'll let you know for sure on Wednesday. Tomorrow I'll put my track wheels on. Tuesday we have a track rental at VIR so I'll be throwing her around pretty good. Street can only tell you so much.

My car was lowered on stock bolts with 18" rears. This was for a drag set up. I noticed some rubbing in the rear wheel liner so went back to have the alignment checked. They could not get it dailed to the specs i wanted due to the lack of suspension movement with the bolts bottomed out. Couldn't get camber right, dont know how the speed shop which lowered it got it right the first time

My advice would be to leave ride height alone.

Too late. Already bottomed out all 4 bolts. I like the look for sure. The ride/handling feels identical. No pulling or symptoms of a bad alignment, but I suspect all 4 bolts being lowered to the same level would cause an equal negative camber at all 4 corners and not something you would necessarily feel.

Do you know how much of a drop you got with bottoming out all 4 bolts?

Doing mine in spring.

Read the DSC suspension and controller threads posted on the forum if you plan on tracking the car. DSC says do not lower the car as it performs best at stock ride height.

1" front, 1/2" rear.....but the rear may still be settling. The front seemed to drop immediately.

I trust Mike Levitas. I had him do the DSC install at his shop in MD, along with the alignment (removing 16 washers). I even followed his recommendations and swapped all my fluids (trans, rear diff, clutch). On this one I'm trying to determine the full impact of bottoming out the bolt. I guess you could argue I've reduced suspension travel equal to the drop? Is that everyone's thoughts or is it less simple than this?

Bottoming out the front of the z06 springs still is like 3/4" less drop than a z51 spring can do. The rear is oddly backwards. The Z06 rear can get too low so you don't want to bottom the rear out, put it 1/3 of the way up to make the tire gap and rake proper.

With Z06 springs fully bottomed on front I can get -2.2 camber without removing washers. On the rear I can get -1.8 with 1 set of washers removed.

Background: I went from z51 to Z06 springs and retained same ride height with above changes.

I'm flying a little blind here on my new 2019. My 2016 was completely dialed in by Mike and went from a horrific handler to simply awesome with his alignment and DSC module. I can tell you it was night/day and Mike called mine one of the worst factory alignments he'd seen. Afterward my car felt totally planted and way more stable at speed.

My new 2019 just turned a week old. I drove it every day to get to 500 miles and I've installed my Hawk DTC 60/70 pads (people hate 'em, I love 'em), Castrol SRF, GM CAI and an oil change to get ready for the track on Tuesday. My understanding is the '19's come with revised shock mapping and I can tell you having driven my 2016 with DSC and my new 2019 literally back to back, they are very similar. So kudos to GM for what so far feels like a better handler right out of the gate.

Tomorrow I'll mount my Deity 18" wheels with Toyo R888R's 315F/335R and go for a little drive. Won't be the same as VIR, but it'll give me a sense of where the car is. If I don't like what I'm feeling I'll move the bolts back up. Now that I know what I'm doing it'll be a pretty quick exercise.

Hmm ok thanks. I'm going for at least 1/2" front and rear.

I'll wait for spring to do this.

I dropped my Z all the way down in the front and back and have 19/20 inch front and back. I even went up a tire size in the rear and have been fine. I love the stance and would do it over again. Only issue is the front splitter rubbing on some driveways. I had it wrapped for extra protection.

Nice, that's the exact stance i'm going for to compliment my new wheels. I just hate the wheel gap that i didn't notice when i was on stock wheels.

Did you get an alignment after you dropped it?

I did get it aligned afterwards and they did an aggressive alignment to make the handling even better. Toughest part was finding a shop that could get it up on a lift because it was so low at the front splitter.

Quick update. Car ran great at VIR today. We ran back to back 30mins on 30mins off for 8 hours. A few things:

1) I'm no Poorsha (Sean) and I'll prove it on lap 5
2) Car is a 2019 M7 wearing poverty splitter up front full stage 3 in the rear
3) Wearing 18" Deity Signature wheels on Toyo R888R's 315F 335R (starting pressures 25LF, 26RF, 29R
4) Video is last session and I was trying to beat my best. Not smart after 4 hours of track time.
5) Car was absolutely flawless with no overheating issues.
6) Previous best 2:11....new best 2:07

Yeah that's what i'm worried about. Not so much finding a shop to have it aligned as i know the shop i will go to has done a ton of really low cars before, even my old C6GS but it's scraping my stage 3 front splitter everywhere, and possibly my driveway that worries me.

I guess i'll have to try it, and if if it's too low i'll raise it back up.

Thanks for the info.

Before lowered all the way on stock bolts

After lowered all the way on stock bolts

After lowered all the way on stock bolts
As the pictures clearly show, there is a big difference dropping it on the stock bolts. Mine is a 15 ZO6 non ZO7. IMO the car handles much better and looks amazing!
