Before taking it in, I'm checking for ideas. Last week all cameras were working fine one morning, but when parking it at the end of the evening, there was no picture from the left front parking cam. The left half of the screen was black. Right front and rear view cams are good.
The only thing different of late was, I changed the battery and it took a few days of charging to get rid of all glitches. But all cameras were working for a couple days afterwards. Of course the B2B warranty is expired on my 2016 Z06 convertible 2LZ with 55,000 miles.
The camera (and presumably its interconnecting cables) are in a somewhat exposed location so make sure it didn't take a hit from a bit of debris. But first follow Seldoon's excellent advice to check whether there is an obstruction on the lens.
For anyone else looking for an update, I took it to the dealership and they replaced the camera and now it works fine. Apparently this is GM’s current fix and it is a rare occurrence. They were not able to find out exactly what the cause was as they needed to return my car in a timely manner but if it happens again it will be diagnosed at my wish.
There was no charge for me, the car is still under warranty. If your car isn’t under warranty the camera can’t be more than a few hundred, but not sure of the costs.
my left camera took a rock hit and now has a fuzzy spot in the image where the chip is, so I've researched this. The camera can be bought for $117. see this thread:
