Anyone ditch the Michelins?
Good morning folks! I'm looking to see if anyone has ditched the Michelin's for another tire brand, and if so, what, and how do you like them? I have the sport cup 2's and I cant stand the amount of crap they pick up. I have enough pea gravel in my garage after every drive to fill a fish tank. I'm leaning towards regular super sports or maybe going with a goodyear or nitto alternative. Thoughts?

I dont track my car and when it was time for new tires, I swapped my Cup 2's for the Super Sport Run Flats in stock sizes and am happy with the results.
They still collect some debris but much less.

I use continental extremecontact sports on the street. Not as grippy but totally fine and a much better ride. They're so much cheaper I'm considering trying them on track. The Cup2s have annoyed me as a track tire.

The PS Runflats work well if you don't want all of the stones picked up by the Cup2s. The Conti's are Ok but they aren't run flats and don't even think about putting a Nitto on the car. I can't imagine why anybody would want to put such a low performance tire on a Vette. Their track tires are well liked but the street tires leave a lot to be desired from a performance stand point. The only thing in their favor is they are cheap.

If you don't like the Cup2's at least go with the Michelin Pilot 4S

Sorry for wasting folks time with my previous post.
However, since folks are reading this I'm curious about something I overheard someone say at a car show this weekend. A guy mentioned something about these cars getting hot. Has anybody ever had their car run hot or overheat at a road course?

Look in the ‘sticky’ section above general forum posts. Set aside some time to read all of the posts.

Contis for everyday use -- great ride and handle all kinds of weather, including light snow. use Michelin SuperSports for the track.

Have had Nittos, but ech! I currently have both SC2s on Forgelines and MPSS ZPs on Morr monoblocks. I run the SCs in the dry summer here and the MPSSs in the slightly wetter winter. Clearly the SCs are harsher and pick up more debris. Before I would go to a non performance tire I would try the MPSSs.

Ditched run flats and went with MPSS 295/325 sizes. Avoid 345 on rears as this size is notorious for high speed wobbles. I got 7,500 miles out of my run flats. I'm now at 8,000 miles on MPSS non-run flats and better than 50% tread. So supercar tires, no cracking when driving below freezing, no mileage penalty and great handling.

Ooops, nevermind. I just discovered my surprise was unfounded. Curiosity got the better of me so I did a SEARCH on the word "Tires" and low and behold, the question has been asked and discussed ad nauseam in 784 differnt threads with 19,432 responses.

Yes the cup 2's pick up a ton of debris and sound like a set of maraca's under the car.. MPSS will work much better.... they will still pick up rocks (not as much) but all performance tire basically do, but the Corvette needs em....

Michelin's upgrade from MPSS, jury still out due to newness, supposed to have better performance and longer wear, no 325/25/20, they offer 345/30/20.

Do your tires make noise when it's under 55* and you turn the steering wheel? Search that one next

P.S. I don't give a damn and really could not care less about braking performance, I just want clean wheels!
