What to look for on used C& Z06
Guys I sold my 09 Z06 a few years ago and have been wanting to get a C7 Z06. Im seeing some good deals on used ones. Im aware of the 15-16 A8 has some over heating issues if seeing some hard track use. Im looking at a few 16 models. Curious to know from the experts what things to look for (to try and find abuse), and if the 16 model is a better car then the 15 model. I cant afford a 17 right now.
What options do you recommend, and what options would you steer away from? I probably wont ever take it to the track but if I did it would be light use.
Thanks

From one year to the next the big advantage of the 16 over the 15 is the front camera on the 2LZ and 3LZ cars. It would be particularly helpful if you have the Stage 2 or 3 Aero. That front splitter is a $2K part and easily damaged when pulling into a parking spot or steep driveway.
Other than that there is little difference other than maybe Apple Car Play if you are into that sort of stuff.

For example, if the engine had been operated for 1 hour, and had 240,000 revolutions, that would be an average rpm of 4000.
I'd expect an easily-street-driven automatic to be more around an average of 1200 rpm, including the time spent idling etc.

Any way to tell if the engine ever had a tune? Anything to look for under the car or outside for abuse? Besides normal things. I know the one Im looking at is a 2LZ, and it doesnt have Nav, or Z07 package. Does the 16 have apple car play?

you can get a GMVIS report that identifies any warranty blocks and previous service. I don't think this would 100% identify a car that has been tuned and not sure how to, I was asking this same question. I ended up buying it because the warranty block was clean and it was from a chevy dealer. It also had the maintenance completed at the dealer.
16's have apple car play. I would check the wheel wells for rubber (extensive track use), and possibly check for excessive chips, although if you run the car on the street it will pick them up anyway. I do wish I had gotten mine already equipped with the side skirts because it would have prevented some of these chips, but the car had everything I wanted so I was willing to accept this, and will pick up skirts and splash guards this winter

Good idea about the rubber on inner fenders. I will check that. Little bummed its not a manual trans but if the price is right on this I may pull the trigger. Have to see.

My 15 has flat bottom steering but maybe cause the Z07 package IDK but it doesn't have the cameras and this past week I put damage on front AERO SPLITTER and made me sick. I am getting a new splitter but also looking for a camera set up.

Melting Slicks
2016 has a better resolution pic on the data recorder and a motor to close the hatch.
2017 had improved cooling updates but nothing spectacular like the Camaro ZL1
Avoid any A8 if you are a serious track guy......
