L-88
I know everyone thinks that the new car will be the ZR1 and will come with the LT5, but here's my (totally unsupported) conjecture:
- The new car will still be OHV and will be the L-88 with a bigger supercharger
- The next car, the mid-engine, will be DOHC and will be called the LT5, possible turbocharged.
To wit, does this hood look like the L-88 hood to anyone? It's not exact, of course, but brings it to mind for me. It'd be cool if it were a two-piece hood with a shaker, but I'm even sure pedestrian impact laws would allow that, so not bets on that part.

This one has no vent over the rear wheels. That hood takes away from the known 'sleekness' I admire so. The hood looks like an over grown drag car mixed with exotic car. Maybe they can pull it off or they are playing tricks so the competition won't emulate.

I have believed for a long time that the legendary L88 would resurface in some form. The hood does resemble the domed 68, 69 L88 hood. Not very similar to the 67 L88 hood. I, for one, would love to see a Corvette worthy of the L88 name come to fruition

"In honor of jpee"
I think that would be a pretty marvelous thing to do. Doubts I have, but it'd be really neat IMO.

I'm just worried about the motor under that hood...
Also, for what it's worth, GM has re-trademarked the L-88 moniker:
"The automaker filed two trademark applications for the L88 name. The first was filed on August 4, 2012 for “exterior and interior badges for motor land vehicles”, while the second was filed on September 18, 2012 for “decals”. The trademarks were then published for opposition in October of 2012 and subsequently approved to the USPTO principal register on January 15, 2013."

No poop - I'm just guessing the engine name will by L-88. I'm not sure what the car itself will be, probably still the ZR1. I then assume the midengine gets its own name, maybe as a Cadillac for all I know!
