Default Gas Smell

Well I finally updated my 07 C6 1LT with a 17 ZO6 3LZ with the Z07 package. When I'm driving down the road or even sitting at a stop light there is a strong odor of gasoline. I have looked all over the engine and don't see anything leaking. Is anyone else experiencing any of the symptoms? The smell gets pretty overwhelming at times.

Be careful, don't inhale too much of that. It's dangerous and you can pass out. Pls have dealer check it out, you are under warranty thank goodness.

That's not normal - I'm not worried about the fumes harming you, but if it's indicative of a fuel leak somewhere that'd be what I'd worry about.

If you can't locate the source, you should have the dealer check it out asap.

If it's from the exhaust, less worrisome (something amiss with the engine) but an underhood leak can turn into a big fire.

I wouldn't even drive it. Have it flat bedded in. If you get a gasoline fueled fire the car will be a total loss.

Agreed if its truly gasoline. Do you park your car in the sun? When these cars are new there is a very strong and noticeable odor. Its a combo of who knows what, I assumed adhesives leather etc. Mine absolutely reeked of it for months, and still smells a bit. To be honest I thought it smelled pretty good. If you are worried I agree to take it to the dealership.

For probably the first full year of owning my 15, any time in the sun, the build up of heat made a noxious odor of adhesives, leather, plastic, carpet... kind of "the new car smell" on steroids.
I've had a few new cars and nothing was as strong as the smells this car produces when new...
...Gas is pretty unmistakable though...so if you're sure that's what you're smelling, I'd get it in quick.

Default Gas Smell

I just went through this strong gas smell in my C2 Corvette. I looked everywhere and could see nothing obvious. All hoses were fine. Backing out of the garage I noticed a drip. Got out an smelled it, it was gas. It was coming from the bleed hole on the fuel pump. The air from the fan would keep the gas blown off and onto the exhaust pipe. It is a wonder that we didn't burn the car up. Finished installing the new pump last night and went for a putt, and no gas smell. That same fuel pump can also leak into the crankcase. Most everybody says that is just the way old cars smell. If you smell gas, something is wrong.

I have the same issue. Were you able to resolve it?

Don't risk your car burning to the ground. If you do a search of this site you'll see that it happens. If you include the C5 and C6 which are closely related to the C7 as far as the engineering goes, many cars have caught on fire.

Call your dealer and get it flat bedded to the shop.

I'm not trying to be dramatic, but if your car catches on fire fueled by high pressure gasoline, you're not going to recognize the car in minutes. If the car is inside of your garage, you may have an even bigger problem.

Just curious, is your 2017 still stock? When I went to headers and hi-flow cats and x-pipe, I also gained some gas/exhaust smell that I didn't expect.

Yes it is still stock. I have always modded my vettes but this one I decided to keep stock. 650 is enough - ha ha.
