OP, the power difference as compared w/the base is considerable. If you can't tell the difference, then there is certainly something wrong.

If, having a Z51, you feel the Z06 is flat.... I would be returning that car as fast as I could. There is nothing even remotely close between the Z and Stingray. Dont think so? Launch control is your friend as is the opportunity to mash the pedal in just the right highway curve. The Z06 can be lethal to the typical driver; the Stingray is much the same as it always has been, a powerful and very safe counterpart to the Z.

Stingray owners... dont get me wrong as I am not speaking down to that model in any way; the Stingray is a power monster in its own right. It is not 'instant power' as the Z is, however, something that anyone who has ever driven both can validate. There is a significant different feel that simply cannot be compared...between any two... or anything short of comparison with another Supercar such as a Ferrari, McLaren or Lambo for that fact.

I currently own a 15 z51 and 15 z06 and I can validate everyone's statements that the Z06 is a beast compared to the z51. I really have to readjust my mind and style of driving when I change over to my z51 because of the not so instant power that I'm accustomed to with my z06.

Before I bought my z06 I thought I was the king of the road in my z51 until.........I bought the z06. Night and day comparisons, trust me.

I have never heard it in my Z06 but it always drinks 93 octane. But using the recommended 87 octane in my 2014 ATS (3.6L direct injection 11.5:1 compression ratio) there was audible pinging with moderate load/low RPM/low road speed operation. I switched to 89 octane and that stopped the pinging, manually selecting a lower gear also worked. Very light "knocking" appears to be acceptable with the engine programming, likely another case of EPA mileage requirement trumping good engineering practice.

Definitely sounds like knock retard and likely due to bad gas. Just run through the tank and it put some fresh 93 in it or try some octane booster. It likely won't instantly get normal but keep driving it and it will.

I just picked up my 2017 Z06 last night, i thought it flat as well but after looking down at the speedo i was quite impressed. I just kept rowing through the gears and it seemed to be fast after about 200 miles. Lots of head snapping torque down low

It's how they come stock. My C7Z didn't feel 150hp stronger than my C6Z or frankly even 50hp stronger. Imho it's in part of how the power is delivered. Cars with a flat torque curve usually don't feel as fast as a car that builds a lot as the RPMs rise. Do a ported TB and Burger air filter and it will wake right up. $350 later the car will feel like it should have from the factory. I highly doubt there's anything wrong with your car.

Enjoy!

Best,
Gene

Will all due respect! My C7 ZO6 with an A8 feels every bit of 150hp stronger than a c6z

The op put 50 miles on the car from new. The suggested red line for the first 500 miles is something like 4-4.5K and is indicated as such on the tach.

Either the Op is being an idiot and putting the car in the 6.4K region before 500 miles or if keeping to the 500 mile rev limit is using about 60% or so of the available HP.

I'd suggest to chill out until the car can be run to red line before worrying.

If he has violated the break in suggested limits then something may be already broken.

Anyone who has a properly running C7Z and thinks it is only as quick as a C6Z has a malfunctioning butt dyno.

Did you own a C6Z? Not just drive one once or twice. The 300lb to 400lb weight difference will definitely eat up some of that 150 hp difference.

I know they are much lighter but they lack 0-100 performance. I can hit a 100mph in 6.7 seconds with traction issues.

Your advantage in 0-100 has as much or more to do with the launch ability of the A8 than the 150 hp difference. The M7 C7Z is only .2s -.3s quicker to 100mph than the C6Z. This is because the weight and gearing of the C6Z negates some of the 150hp advantage. My original point was that you were making a comment based on numbers not actual experience, unlike Gene.

Those 2006 C6Zs were light little monsters.

I drove a C6Z for 7 years before I traded it on the C7Z which scared me. No comparison.

It's not the 150hp, it's the 275 lb-ft of torque.

Mine seems to run a whole lot better with tc off. Just shifting quickly from first to second not hammering it can set off tc.
