Z06 front tires worn out? Call here complain GM
My new Z06 front tires were shot at 7000 miles. Discoved it when doing recommended rotation for 7500 miles. Thread and belt showing on both tires at same locations. Never abused, great care in driving by mature owner. Never had any issues with any other Corvette tires.
Took it to my dealer where purchased......"It is an allignment problem, not covered under warranty...sorry!" I raised hell with everyone in the dealership up to the owner who did my test ride with me. No go.....
Service manager took me outside whispered to order my tires from Tire Rack in Atlanta, GA...did so....saved a few bucks.
Took to another dealer in another state to have them mounted, balanced,...stock front end alignment was way off specs.
Yesterday called GM Priority care...internet phone number does not work! So, here is the one that does.....1-800-222-1020. Assigned case number, raised hell with them too....they are doing expedited investigation..will get back to me Monday.
So, I recommend any other forum members who have suffered premature front tire failure or wear with low miles....call this toll free number and raise hell....take some pics with your cell, keep invoices of any and all repairs to rectify front end/tire issues with low mileage.
If enough members here call them and bitch, maybe the factory will begin to do proper front end alignment before they leave assembly line. MY rears were perfect for 7000 miles normal use.
So, I don't see it being a mfg. defect issue, strickly front end alignment. When you pay $93,000.00 for a showroom Z06, you shouldn't have to take it to allignment shop to check proper alignment before driving it home......I told them that in language they could easily understand...urge other forum members to do the same.
Please advise comments....

They last about 7000 miles with an aggressive alignment. If you want tire life, buy continentals and run 0 camber and 0 toe. You will probably get 30,000 miles out of them.
As far as being way off specs, the suspension bushings allow for a significant amount of drift. My alignment cams are marked and even though they don't move, my alignment changes significantly over time.
Alignment isn't a static thing - it changes all the time.

This is not a new problem so don't expect GM to do much. As far back as the c5, 9 out of 10 cars in the Corvette club that we put on the lift had wear on the inside corner. The alignment was within factory specs, including on my 2004 z06, but was too aggressive for the street. When I got my 2014, I had the dealer adjust the alignment before I took delivery. Needs to be close to zero negative camber and toe.
It is worth noting that on other gm cars there is no camber adjustment. GM thinks their manufacturing tolerances are so good, they can assemble them perfectly aligned. The alignment shop actually has to remove a suspension bolt and grind a slot to gain room for adjustment if required.

My 2006 Z06 made it to 10k miles and my 2005 Evo which i bought with 4k miles on it made it to 11-12k with the soft yokohama advans on it.
Sounds about normal with some aggressive driving
