Thinking about an lt4 crate motor for my next build vs a LS1 that is in it now. Can someone find the height of the lt4 vs Ls1. That is all thanks for your time.

I know that Z06 hood is taller to accomadate the LT4, and the top of the SC comes right up to weather stripping. Not sure of the actual height, but there isn't a lot of clearance. Hopefully someone else will chime in with the exact measurements.

having owned both I will tell you the facts. c5 z06 has much more performance and is much lighter and very easy to mod to tremendous power. My z06 after bought it had already heads and cam. I put a supercharger and went to 700 rear wheel horsepower stock bottom end. it would rip anything except ridiculous modded cars that were not really street cars. I also had a 2000 a4 c5 that I also modded and it put down 503 rwhp.. My had a 1990 modded zr1 that put down 400 rwhp but had the best power delivery and was my favorite car. I now have a extremely heavily modded and built 1990 396 pro built stroker as the rest of the car is pro built. It makes great power 540 flywheel but with coil overs race suspension zf 6 speed conversion and many other mods built by a guy famous on this forum who passed away. Unless you have a c4 like that you will not be competing with any c5 z06 cars. get the z06. it is the best car for the money even though they are climbing as we speed. One year ago I sold my 30k miles show winning z06 with all the mods plus supercharger forged rims etc... 24.5k. I sold too soon. that car is 35k now. mint and low miles and dyno sheets 699 rwhp. z06 the way to go.
