Default The Z06 and NYC street parking do not mix.

If you can afford an $80K Plus car you would think one would keep it parked nice and safe in a garage.

You would think.

Everyday I come across this beautiful Arctic White Z06 in my neighborhood. Not a very common sight on the streets of NYC.

The car stood out like a diamond parked in the street where cars are typically nothing more than a beat up appliance.
It was new and pristine in the Summer. Gorgeous.

The car is parked on the streets everyday.

Well here we are a few months down the road and here is how NYC streets are treating this poor machine... The snow hasn't even arrived yet.

Obviously the owner doesn't care too much. I guess he is driving a Z06 regardless. if the owner is a member here... Hey more power to you. It's your car.

It's just a bit sad to see this car slowly get destroyed.

Personally I would not buy a car like this and park it daily on the city streets.

At the end of the day it's a pile of metal and plastic used for utility and pleasure. Nothing more.

I looked at a couple cars from the city and they all had worn very badly from being exposed all the time. That poor Z.

Nothing wrong with that. It's his or her car. Do as you wish.

It's actually the guys who can't truly afford a given car who are the ones obsessing over where they park it or what the humidity and chance of rain are for the next 3 days before driving it. The guy who has a beater C7 Z06 likely has far more expensive cars "parked nice and safe in a garage."

You'll have a heart attack if you come to the SF Bay Area. You'll see $500K cars parked on the street with curbed wheels.

However, us fan boys (That's why we're here right?) hate to see any kind of excessive abuse. I think most of us agree that our Corvettes are more than just another utility vehicle or we would all be driving boring cars.

Ding, ding, ding - The politically correct answer of the day.

I live in FL, but travel to NYC monthly on business. I love the city and culture, but while navigating to/from the airports into lower Manhattan, I cringe at the idea of owning a Corvette, or any car that you are passionate about, and navigating those roads and parking conditions. I love all the bumper mats that people install or hang out of their trunk, knowing people are going to hit their cars.

The car is covered in Birdshit.

The door is cracked. It's been like that for a couple of months.

When the door was first damaged you could see the rubber imprint of a tire caused it. Must have been sideswiped.
I looks like that was since buffed out.

NYC is brutal on cars. Those Pot holes and steel plates that cover them destroy wheels tires and the underside of normal vehicles but are especially bad on sports cars.

Welcome to NJ, it's much nicer here and you can visit the city anytime you want.

Depending on what town you're in, parking should be very safe and our roads are generally much better than NYC...But they're still a bit crappy.

Obsessing over cars is a personality trait unrelated to wealth.

On the one side my grandfather was not wealthy, loved VWs, and obsessed over them. On the other side, Ya think Jay Leno has a beat up C7 Z06 he parks on the streets of LA?

As for the $500K cars with curbed wheels: I've always thought that just because you can afford one, doesn't mean you can drive it well, and that, just makes you rich, not a car enthusiast. There's a big difference.

(On the other hand, I'm just a poor OCD car enthusiast, so maybe you are right after all).
