Ordered the Akrapovic Evolution exhaust from Ben yesterday. I will say anybody on the fence thinking about ordering needs to PM him about his pricing for forum members.
My car is bone stock and my plan is to get a baseline dyno. Then Halltech intake, Halltech TRIC and akrapovic exhaust installed with just shop fan blowing and then re-dyno for comparison. Next, I have a multi-velocity battery powered leaf blower that I would think would be the best way to simulate high speed airflow into the TRIC on a dyno. I don't have a wind anemometer, nor will I buy one to test actually wind speed from the blower. Any of the knowledgeable airflow folks think the leaf blower idea is feasible? I welcome all comments whether positive or critical.

Ben's a great guy, he has a really high IQ (105) and hasn't let it go to his head, which is rare these days. He's really very nurturing.

On the leafblower, it moves air at high speed, depends on the volume it puts out. Sometimes they're rated by CFM. Perhaps your best bet would be something like this:

I mean the design style only, a 120V roller cage unit. Not sure what that exact one puts out.

^^^ It's just an idea I'm throwing around. My guess would be the leaf blower CFM would be equal to or exceed the CFM the car's ability to scavenge airflow to the intake based on mph. It won't be scientific, but I think it is the best way to show the benefit of Jim's ram air system on a dyno.

I think the only true measure of the TRIC's performance gains, aside from a wind tunnel with a dyno inside, will be data gathered from acceleration tests from Vbox or PDR. You would have to accelerate the exhaust from the blower as the speed on the dyno increased. I am not even sure if a wind tunnel can speed the air up from 60 to 130 in seven seconds like these car accelerate.

And this is the very reason there is so much confusion about the CAI systems in general. Many of them do make a few additional hp on the dyno but the benefits of more and cooler air compounded with the less restrictive system cant be replicated and may not all show on the dyno.
The gains will normally show in the trap of a 1/4 mile run.
However on the Z06 (which often has marginal traction to begin) the extra hp often causes the PCM to intervene. (with traction control if actual slippage is detected or with Torque management if slippage is predicted). So results are all over the map from better, to no change, or even worse performance.
Point is the only practical scientific way to really see the gains is to average at least 3 before and after runs with drag radials and all traction control/PTM off at a similar DA. Then you will have your answer.

It would take a whole thread to list all the product/services I've purchased from Weapon X. All I can say is Ben, Blake, and the crew at Weapon X have earned more than just my trust and my business... they've become good friends as well. I can promise you this guys and gals...when you buy from Weapon X, you get service and support above and beyond what you'll find anywhere else in the business. And yeah, I put my money where my mouth is. Just check out the video if you need proof. ;-)
