Stingray to Z06
If you went from a Stingray to a Z06, how long did you have the Stingray? Why did you make the move?
I had my Stingray for 11 months and made the move for more power.

Had my 14' Z51 since new. Came from a cammed C6Z and been longing for more power. Added LT's, ported intake and TB, CAI, dyno and tune and way better than stock. But not enough. So I am interested here some posts. Do I bite the bullet and move to a Z, or spend the dough on a 416 stroker with cam and heads???

Wrong verb, dovervold....you should have said, "waste" the dough. The Z06 is a whole lot more Corvette than just a bigger engine than the Stingray.
And the flames will start momentarily when the naysayers tell ya that the depreciation on the new Z is tons more money. But that's only half the argument...the moment you toy with the Stingray engine and mod it to bigger HP numbers, your value will REALLY drop off. The word is UNMOLESTED....most people that are looking at used Corvettes want to find ones that are pure stock, no mods....a.k.a. unmolested. My vote would be "buy" the new Z06!

Got my 14 in Oct 13. Traded for the 16 Z July 15. Saw the Z come out in 15 and wanted to let the smoke settle.
Bought the Z because I got a great deal. Don't need the power but handy to have.
Was planning on trading for a 17 but nothing with the 17 Corvettes motivates me to do so.
I don't think the Z is a long term car for me especially when it goes out of warranty.
I'm not rich but at my age getting what I want now. That's probably my biggest motivator for the Z........ I wanted one.

I put 5,000 miles on my 2016 and then traded up. Love both cars.
I just love all the extras on the Z06. At the factory tour in Bowling Green, I could see - they were very special cars. I had to upgrade. Would love to have one of each though.

I ordered a 2014 and took delivery April 2014. I put in a 416ci stroker and a blower and a whole shitload of other mods, maybe 40-45K in mods, coilovers, lots of wheel sets (Forgelines, thanks a lot Ben@WeaponX ) and so on. Car was fast, fun, etc. I secretly always wanted a Z06 but didn't want to wait for them to come out. I ended up parting out the car and selling it. It was a 58K MSRP (base base with Comp seats and M7), paid 53K, sold it stock for 49K in April 2016.
In April, bought a 2016 Z06 sticker 95K, paid 87K A8 3LZ, with a few smaller options and installed a 9% lower pulley, Haltech intake, and DSX ethanol sensor. Max'd out fuel system around 30-35% E85 so I am pretty much done, just going to drive it (we will see about that, I might be in denial).
Only regret is blowing lots of money on the 2014 when I should have just bought a 2015 Z06 in the first place. The car is awesome, I have no qualms about the upgrade. Worth every penny.

Higgs, congrats on the upgrade. Love my 2014 Z51 (LG Super Pro's, ported intake and TB, AFE, ect...) So here is my dilema: 1. go with a 416 stroker kit and stay N/A. 2. Step up to a Z. With your 416 stroker, did you ever get to drive it N/A or did you add the blower at the same time. Just wondering if anyone has real world experience what a 416 N/A will do on the street.

Had my '14 Z51 1LT M7 vert for 2 years before trading 3 weeks ago for a '16 2LZ A8 Z06. The '14 was stock and was plenty quick but always wanting more power I moved up to the Z06. I thought about putting a blower and long tubes on the '14 but the losing of the warranty and trade value loss made me just go get the real thing. Not looking back now.

To infer that people who upgrade their vehicles for added performance or God forbid take them to the track is tantamount to 'molestation' is absurd.
More nonsense from the 'coffee & cars' crowd who keep their Vettes Zaino'd & covered in the garage 99.9% of the time.

6 months in a Stingray before trading up.
My plan was to twin turbo the Stingray until I drove my friends z06. It's so much more car than just the extra power.
I knew that I couldn't spend 30k and make a z06 out of the Stingray.
After driving my friends, I had a deposit on my own z06 a week later.

Bought my Stingray in Oct. 2013. Traded it off for a 2015 Z06 in April of 2015. Traded that Z06 off for a 2016 Z06 in June. I wanted the wide body look.
