Default 305/35-18 vs 305/40-18 DR's?

Hey guys, I have Mickey Thompson ET Street II's now in the 305/35-18. I've cut multiple low to mid 1.6 60's on an "ok" track. I went with this size since it is the same overall height as my stock tires. I'm wondering if anyone has tried the 305/40-18 which is a little over an inch taller? Will these clear without rubbing? Will this help with the 4-5 shift at the top of the track? I will be in need of new DR's shortly and want to see if the 40 series sidewall might be a decent option? I also hate to mess up a formula that is currently working for me.

Nobody has any input? I'm looking to buy a new set of DR's this week and this will be my chance to change sizes if I want.

I have run 345/18 mickey thompson on 18x12's and did not rub. The tire was probably an inch taller.

Cool, thanks. Did the car still need to shift into 5th gear at the top of the track? Just trying to determine if that shift is a good or bad thing? It sure feels like a relatively 'lazy' shift to me.
