How to remove wax from spats?
There's a place in the local mall that details your car while you shop. It's a win win. Normally they do a great job for $30 and I'm more than happy. Recently I figured it's Spring and I'll opt for the $100+ wash/wax/machine...etc. They did the work it looked pretty good and I went on my way.
Today I closely examined the car for a project I'm about to do and noticed a couple things.
The guy tried to wax the spats. Now there's varying degrees of white haze on the rough plastic. Anyone have suggestions on how to clean that up?
Also, I noticed they snapped the top of the E off on the CORVETTE on the back. Guess I'll be taking the rest of the letters off now. Beware the buffer man who has no idea what he's doing.
Thanks!
Best,
Gene

Bug and tar remover, if you want something natural-banana peel. Or if you have any product like back to black or any of those black plastic treatments they will also work well.

Griot's Garage has just the thing to remove the wax. Oil-Flo Safety Solvent is the other option. ArmorAll I believe will just be a temporary relief. This happens all the time on my wife's car and I use Oil-Flo.

Never knew WD-40 had such a wide range! Any of those plus the toothbrush ought to solve the problem.

As for getting the wax out off the spats talk to them to see if they will have anything that will remove it. The powder gets in the pores of the plastic and is really difficult to remove. You can try some Armor All but my experience with it and similar products is the touch up is temporary. The problem with using WD-40 is you stand a chance of removing some of the wax on the fenders.
This is one of the reasons I like clear liquid waxes that dry clear. If the detailer gives you a ration of bull then go to an auto parts store and buy a small container of Turtle Wax ICE Wax. It goes on clear and does not get white powder in the plastic or on the rubber. Put it on the spats lightly and let dry as much as possible then rub out. It should make the white haze disappear for a while. I learned this on my 03 Z06 where the paint chips got white looking from using NXT and because the edges of the chips reflected light. One treatment of Turtle Wax Ice made it all disappear until I decided to wax the car again.
Once the product is on it may look smeary but it will clear up after you wash and dry the car one more time.

I'd be more concerned with them damaging the letters. If I were you I would be having them fix it. You shouldn't have to change the look of your car because someone screwed something up on it.

Peanut Butter.
Actually it's the peanut oil in it, but the peanut butter works just as well.

Thanks for all the replies guys!
As far as the letters the guys usually do a good job and as the smiley face would indicate...I'm not worried about it.

When i had my car repaired from the bus that backed into it i choose not to replace my rear fascia letters. Imo it looks better without them.

I removed the 'Corvette' letters long ago. It is a much cleaner look for sure. Everything happens for a reason.

Your Corvette name plate is about $20 not really a big deal.
Part #32 in this diagram. be sure to select "carbon" not chrome for your Z06.

Ive had no success with WD-40 as used to remove white marks on the trim. Same with any citrus based products. what I have had success with is peanut oil or a little bit of peanut butter. A little bit of jelly and your in business LOL
