For the people saying the ACR is "RICE", what about this?

so because it's the fastest on ONE track that makes it the best.......well how does it do on a track that most manufacturers consider the be all and end all, the Nurburgring?

the ACR is a great track car, no doubt about it, but so is an F1 car but seeing as how 99% of the time we will be driving our cars on public roads, how does it stack up......yeah, just as I thought.

Mutually exclusive. The C7R is not street legal.

You bought a $85k-$100k car with 650hp with no intention of ever driving it on the track? Why not buy a Camry, which sells in higher numbers (which on this forum means it's better), is more comfortable (which on this forum now means it's better), and more economical?

And if you're going to comment, don't be so ignorant. The ACR now holds the track record at over a dozen US tracks.

Without a doubt. On Corvette forums members call functional aero "ricer" and then go install their lambo door conversion kit and plastic chrome Corvette letter inserts.

I personally don't understand how anyone can call either car ugly, even if it isn't your bag of chips.
Usually the corvettes park next to each other, so it's difficult to be situated next to a Viper. If you want to see a Vette (or 20 of them), just go to your local Chevy dealership, or hell, the Walmart parking lot.

But yeah, that ugly Viper never gets any attention.

You can't really equate attention to beauty though. I first saw the Viper about a half year before it went on sale. My immediate impression was the design was a fail for SRT. I told the SRT guys with it that I felt like the design was a step backward vs forward...they disagreed. Low and behold, no one buys the car. You have to admit, even with the price reduction, there is a reason the car doesn't sell...the buyers have spoken...the car is ugly. GenIV's looked WAY better.

Ah opinions.

I find the Gen 3/4 to look like lack luster. I'd never have purchased one, which I didn't (and they sold less Gen 4 than 5). I am on my 2nd Gen 5 and love it's looks.

Actually, as the numbers stand they have yet to produce as many GenV's as IV's, according to the ViperClub forums. Considering many GenV's sit unsold, it's a bit less.

As it stands they sold 2766 GenIV's, and they've produced 2427 GenV's.

I suppose I just had a things for the GenIV ACR's...they seemed leaner in profile, which I liked. The GenV's seem bloated...the profile view is just....bad.

Clearly the Viper should have gotten plastic spats, and a bunch of aero that looks like it was glued on after a shopping binge at Jegs.
Actually non flattering comments about the ACR's wing have been made on other forums and in magazines. Some folks like the wing some don't. But it seems the general consensus is the wing is ok on the track, but a bit over the top for public roads.

They sold 2 or 3 Body Styles of the Gen 3 and 4's, Coupe, Convertible and ACR which had a Fast back. Thats why they sold that many cars.. These cars were hand-built, note sure about the painting process but Strips were Vinyls over clear coat.

They only sell one body style for Gen 5 in 4-5 Different basic Trims. Standard (includes GTS) TA, TA 2.0 and ACR standard and Extreme.

The car is Hand-built and HAND PAINTED, Stryker Colors take about 180 man hours to complete, and that's before there's a order for Stripes which are installed before clear-coat. there is no way the Viper today could sell in Corvette numbers.. High Sells dont mean jack in the Automotive world if your not making a profit.

Anyway. there is nothing wrong with Gen 5 Dessign. YES it is a Step backwards in Design... a Step Back to the Best Design of the Viper, Gen 2 (the debut of the GTS Coupe).

Never understand this oft repeated comment. Is Chevy some sort of unattainable auto pinnacle suddenly? Or some benchmark of automtive quality? Outside of the Corvette, did the last 35 years of lousy Chevy cars not happen? Jeez the dust hasn't even settled over the hundred + people killed in their ignition switch disaster.

And besides Everything now is "just" something lesser.
Ferrari is a Fiat
Porsche is a VW
Lambo, Audi, Bentley is VW too

Etc.

Be honest here. Do you really care what the other drivers on the road think about what you are driving? They are surrounding you in their Camry's, minivans, F150's, and 10K other shitbox cars. If I'm driving a Corvette or a Viper, I honestly could not care less what the "general consensus" thinks. I think that goes for any flashy car that gets attention. I really, honestly, do not give a damn what other commuters think I should or should not be driving.
