Well, since nobody was going to find out with that little stock blower.
Guess soon people will find out.

However the A8 is a great upgrade from the A6, and with proper tuning (emphasis on the word "proper") the A6 can handle a lot of HP without failure. So naturally we would expect the A8 to surpass the A6 with ease.

My worries are that it is the same size as the A6, but there are 8 gears(thinner?)cramped in there. Maybe my worries are way off, but I guess time will tell.

From my understanding, and someone correct me if Im wrong, but this is much like an allison, where planetary gears are used. Technically, there are only 4 gearsets.

Inner gear is driven, then outer of the same gear set is driven. two ratios are derived from one set of planetaries.

Its a very strong method. Its also why they are able to keep shifts so fast. It simply switchs from the A clutch to the B clutch, much like a PDK on every other shift in between planets.

Your correct.

This taken from an 8L90 power point presentation.

The 8 speed ratios are generated using:

4 planetary gear sets

2 brake clutches

3 rotating clutches

The three (3) rotating clutches have been located forward of the gear sets to
minimize the length of oil feeds which provides for enhanced shift
response
.

The 8 speed architecture utilizes a chain driven fluid pump.

Here is the entire presentation, lots of great info. I have read it a few times and each time I learn something different.

ProchargerTech what is the safe power limit of the LT4? Maybe it's too soon to know, but I'm just curious if you can reliably push 1000hp through the LT4.

I'm sure you'd have to upgrade the 7spd's clutch, but hopefully the rest of the car could handle 1000hp safely.

According to GM the A8 or 8L90 can handle up to 740 LB.FT of torque.

There's probably a 5% margin of safety built into that figure so another 37 LB-FT or 777 LB-FT of torque total. I would feel safe up to 780 LB-FT and anything above that would reduce the life of the transmission.

Since LT-1's are consistently making 700-800rwhp, and living with their none forged internals. Its safe to say this FORGED LT-4 with its lower compression is going to be making a LOT of HP.

We will assume GM did their homework, and took notes from how well factory forged motors like the Toyota 2JZ, and Ford 2003/04 Cobra motors did

Congrats looks like you guys built a great system. I have a d1sc on my c5 and it's freaking fun. i couldn't imagine what it would do on a built motor like the lt4.

Isnt this car already over-steery as it is on the track? I cant imagine adding more power to this beast, but I guess every road course has a straight

I'm also a bit curious as to how the car sounds with the Procharger as opposed to a roots style blower.

Depends.
Either it'll have blower whine or it'll sound like an NA car.

The 1.7 Supercrapper that's on the car from my understanding doesn't have any blower whine either.

So..either better or the same.

with street tires I think the new 8 spd will last a long life

the tires will go up in smoke at 700 ft lbs before the tranny will break

nice job, what's the target price on the intake? beautiful setup and it brings the LT4 top end back where it should be!

anything that makes the Z06 lighter is also a very good thing.

nice job, very impressive!

The factory blower really didn't make any noise.

Correct, it was nearly silent.
