Thank You Jesus - and Corvette Engineering !
I am very lucky to be writing this post. Oldest son and I attended a small local car show in Toledo, Ohio which is about an hour from us. I was driving back on a small 2 lane state highway to enjoy the famous Z06 handling prowess through a series of curves. Exiting the last curve, which wasn't very severe I saw a white Charger approaching from the other direction. I assumed he was going to travel past me, however, as I neared a cross road he decided to turn left immediately in front of me. I had very little space and time to react and was not going to be able to scrub off much speed in braking. I flicked the wheel right to avoid the head-on collision, using up pavement on the cross road to my right. I managed to avoid putting my right side wheels on the grass since the maneuver happened right in the intersection. The problem was that I had a ditch coming straight at me now and so had to whip the wheel back to the left pretty much when my car was just in front of the Charger. My car was literally sliding sidewise now at probably 60 mph. I just missed putting the right side tires in the grass bordering the ditch (again) and was able to re-enter my roadway heading towards the opposite lane. Had to do another quick correction back to the right to correct the oversteer that was then happening. So the car is yawing back and I didn't think I could save it. But save it I did, no doubt thanks to the Corvette's stability control system, and divine intervention.
This was the closest near miss I have ever had in 40 years of driving and it still amazes me hours later that we escaped unscathed.
Thinking back it easily could have been a triple fatality, t-boning another car at 60 mph. By the grace of god and some excellent engineers I am here to write this.

Son is 25 YR and a sensible young man. He is very much a car guy but not a reckless sort. He's actually an O.E. engineer working for Honda (but hoping very much to join team Tadge).
