If it is a "one or the other" decision I would recommend at least driving a 911 C2S for comparison. I have a '14 911 TT and think the C7 Z06 compares quite favorably. Better in some areas not as good in others.
They being said I am on the short list for a '16 GT3 but have no plan to sell the Z06.

The C7 Z06 removed most of the compromises associated with a corvette and significantly elevated the value to a mass market myself included.

My sentiments exactly. Well said. Porsche guy here, but their prices are ridiculous.

If money permits, the extra 40K is very justified in the 991 GT3.

I can't imagine that being the case...we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I'd rather have the 991 GT3 if money were no object, but its not $40k-$60k better, IMO.

What's the waiting time on your short list & can I get in behind you?

Was also on the fence with a 991 GT3 but decided on getting the Z06 instead. Have an older 997 TT that is now my daily driver after I sold my 2009 Z06, but the Z06 was actually the better daily driver for me.

Tried to get my order in last week for a 2016 Z06, but I want the new Long Beach Red and the dealership told me that color is on constraint for now. So I guess I will have to wait a little while longer!

I traded my 05 LB vert and my 14 TR Coupe in for my ZO6 and have not looked back! This car is everything that I had hoped for. The other 2 cars were great in their own ways, but the ZO6 has made me forget about both of them pretty quickly. I look forward to every time I hit an open road in this Beast. IMO, this is the best Corvette yet.

it's funny. i knew i wasn't losing my mind when i noticed the uppity looks some of the new C7 owners give while at local shows lol...

i'm sure chevy is glad people such as yourself are buying these cars, but for us? the corvette faithful, we're fine having you guys in your MB or BMW on the other side of the lot

Now it seems that those excuses are all gone. The c7 is now a legitimate contender as a truly great American sports car that can hold its own with its European counterparts.

I'm curious as to how many current and future z06 owners never thought they'd get this beast of a car and are pleased with what they have.

Thanks

As long as you're OK with the fact that there will be some hillbillies buying this car.

What's the big deal about the GT3? I know it's a nice looking performance car and dig the 911s but over this car?

It's more than good looking, it's the real deal; Porsche has been essentially perfecting the 911 for 52 years - since 1963. The most noticeable difference of a Porsche from any other performance car is that the engine is in the rear so there is never any heat build-up in the toe-box or console area - no hot feet or legs during commuting or track days, never, period. The most balanced car for the track, hands-down: not too much torque, incredible high-revving engine and very compact. You'll just have to drive one sometime, it's really that good.

On the flip side, I think the C6 (Z06 and ZR1) and certainly the C7 Z06 look more sinister on the road than any Porsche - with the exception of the 918 Spyder - but, for me, the Porsche is a par above in almost every category.

There is, however, no substitute for the sounds that come out of the pipes of my stock 2011 Supersonic Blue Carbon Z06, that's for sure.

I've had GT3 (picked up at the factory so got to enjoy the autobahn) and several Porsches, plus now have a CTS V and a Ferrari. My Z06 is my first Corvette, and now have over 7000 miles on it. In all my years of driving fast and competent cars, nothing comes close to the everyday accessibility, power, appearance, comfort, handling and sheer guts of this magnificent engineering feat. Clearly a car built by and designed for a true enthusiast.

The first thing I thought of when I read your post is that you work for the advertising company that GM uses and posted here just to keep people interested. Funny how I thought that. I hope I am wrong.
