here is sorta an explanation, can pay someone to setup a Shadow company and get you montana license plates and pay no tax on RV's exotic cars etc.. which is why yous ee alot of rv's and also exotics with Montana plates.

How is vehicle insurance handled? If you have Montana insurance and use the vehicle in a high cost state it seems like the insurance company wouldn't like the situation.

The only good thing about living here in NH, other than no seat belt law, is no sales tax. They only get you via the DMV for 1.8% for the first year. So a $100k Z06 would only be $1,800 registration fee...

How bad did everyone get hit for?
$3k here but then again i had to pay a penalty of $400 since i didnt register within 30 days of buying, i wasnt driving the car and was in storage so figured no harm no foul... was hit hard with that extreme charge for letting it sit in the garage. ended up being $3463 total No wonder why so many people use the montana LLC loophole for high end cars

Tax here in Missouri is about 6.5%, not too bad, but then there's the annual personal property tax which never stops, only goes down each year depending on mileage and an assessed (to be interpreted as "assumed") value. It's such bs. I already paid taxes, then get taxed because I own something. Don't even want to get into how much I pay each year. By the end of the year I've been taxed 3 times on a car purchase. First they tax my paycheck, then I pay sales tax, then there's personal property, which I define as a success tax. On a $95000 car, it would be about $1500 the first year, $1400 the next, etc. Obviously that's just the vehicle, doesn't include boats, land, homes, rental properties, etc. This is the main reason I rarely buy a brand new car.

Just glad to be in Texas. Property tax isn't too bad and is only on real estate property, not personal property. Now if the price of oil will just go back up to $60/barrel we won't lose a ton of jobs.

People do care....but what can you do, when you're in a country that expects everyone to pay for everyone else, with of all things....taxes

I love Oregon!
In Oregon it costs $121 for registration with 4 year plates. No sales tax. No added property taxes.
Year round corvette driving (50's in the winter, 60's and 70's in the summer) on well maintained twisty, lightly traveled, coastal and river valley roads. Very light traffic police presence.
Half the people here are from California, escaping high taxes and strangling regulations!
Lots of room for more. You can buy a nice home with 10 wooded acres near the ocean for less than a comparable house on small lot in California! Also cheap gas!
