Default After 1100 Miles on my Z06, here are my issues

Hey guys,

I have about 1100 miles on my 7-speed manual Z06 and I love it, but there are some things that I need to bounce off you guys, would love feedback on any of these. on all of these I've looked around and can't find answers.

1. first time I made a sharp turn in a parking lot, I heard a sound like I had a flat, which I obviously didn't. happens every time I have the wheel turned a certain amount and I guess it's just the tire rubbing. do you experience this?

2. when scrolling through the display options on the display screen, my eLSD is 0% on the left and 30% on the right. I found a picture online of the same... can someone give me the crash course on which is 0 and which is 30?

3. The "information" messages that tell me to shift from 1st to 4th are driving me crazy. can these be turned off?

4. I finally started using the rev match. what is the "right" way to use this? turn it on and leave it on for the drive, or selectively activate it when it makes sense to? or just personal preference?

5. when I'm driving around, I get a lot of younger guys in mustangs that pull up next to me and rev their engines. can these be turned off? really annoying.

any feedback would be great. thanks!

Number 5 is hilarious.

Does GM keep making the skip shift only to avoid the gg tax? It is a pain in the ***.

1. Normal. Slow speed tight turns on cold surface with cold tires will result in the tires crabbing/skipping on the surface. They aren't rubbing anything on the car. Warmer temps will mitigate it. Corvettes have done this for years. Product of wide front tires and the Ackerman affect of the suspension.

2. Not sure, perhaps others can help on that.

3. Just ignore it. If you're not in the window that it'll force you do a skip shift, the light comes on and goes off. I don't even notice it anymore.

4. Personal pref - you can do it any of the ways you describe. Pretty neat feature, particularly in sport or track mode.

5.

Well here is one guy with a Mustang who won't be doing this anytime soon. More street racing idiocy: http://www.cnn.com/2015/03/01/us/cal...ths/index.html

As for #3 (the skip shift message), it cannot be turned off, but the skip shift is overridden under moderate to hard acceleration or (even with a light touch on the throttle) once your hit 17 or 19 mph in 1st gear. So if you don't try to shift to second below 19, you don't have to worry about it.

As for #5, lol. I have the same problem. It won't go away, but can be dealt with similarly -- i.e., moderate to hard acceleration.

This is what goes through my mind every time someone wants to race me; even if all I do is go full-throttle off the line but stay safe, I'll be held responsible if the other person loses control and hurts someone. Not worth it.

I do not have a C7 .... yet, but will take a stab at it.

1. Diff is complaining.... try again when car is really hot after a hard drive and see if that "grinding" noise is gone ?

2. this seems like something is wrong, i thought by reading about eDiff that this shows up while driving telling you how much slip/no slip there is on RH and LH side ... if it shows 05 and 30% while standing still... there is something wrong ?

3.Must br programmed out skip shift ... OR just use more Throttle in first gear before you grab 2.nd

4. Rev match is off by default, when activated (just pull once and notice color change on gear indicator) and you are in rev match mode

5. Ignore or humiliate

As pointed out by some earlier posters, number 2 is a well known characteristic of all C7's, Stingrays and Z06's. There is a little placard that is draped on the shifter that describes this, but it seems the prep guys remove quite a few of these prior to owner receiving the car. Nothing to be worried about.

1. As stated above, off-putting but normal ... you should have had one of these hanging from your shifter at delivery:

3. Accelerate harder, it won't activate ... it only does it when you short shift.

4. Turn it on and leave it on and enjoy the melody. I wish there was a way to leave it on permanently.

Enjoy!

If I recall correctly.

eLSD 0-30% indicates the amount of wheel slip
bars on the sides indicate which wheel

Somewhere I saw this explaned.

I think there are really two readings eLSD wheel slip 0 -30% as indicated in the lower graph, which changes colors as slip increases toward the 30% mark. The upper percentage is the application of Diff clutch packs 0 - 100%. eLSD is your friend when on a track as you pull through the apex of a corner.

#3 Besides the comments already made to rev a little higher before shifting, you can hesitate slightly in neutral before shifting into 2nd gear.

#4 If you are use to heel & toe downshifting, you will begin to love this Rev/Match once you stop automatically hitting the throttle. If you do not downshift a lot you don't need to use it. Personally, I engage the Rev Match when I release the brake. It is personal preference just like setting the exhaust tone.

Enjoy your car and use all the options as you wish. Just learn to laugh at those silly Mustangs. They are just jealous.

I saw the #2 today... If you have wheelspin this 0 to 30% bar tellls you how much porcent of wheelspin your having at the moment (bars turn from green to red). In my case I saw up to 12% when I went WOT in 2nd gear (the bar was in green) if you pass more than 20% the bar turn red.

Hope this help!

Re: #5:

Similar happened to me. My son and I went out for a short trip (picked my A8 up Thursday evening) on Saturday and a Mustang pulled up next to us at a light, on the passenger side of me. My son mumbled something about "the car next to us" and rolled his window down. The driver (mid-30s, I guess) nodded at me. I laughed and said, "Hey, it's brand new, not going to mess anything up. But if you give me your name and number, I'll call you in about a month or so."

He laughed and drove off...

I'm pretty sure that is not 0% on the left and 30% on the right. I've only had my car a week, but I'm under the impression that is a scale of slip from 0 to 30%, and if you could watch it while maneuvering, you would see an indicator move on that scale.
Just my $0.02 worth.

It's also written in the owners manual
