ZO6 Z07 Wheel and Tire Problems! WTF??
After a day at on the track at Palm Beach the stock Sport Cups on the car were pretty much done as far as street use, especially in the rain, was concerned. The decision was made to dismount the Sport Cups and mount them on a spare set of ZR1 wheels from the C6 to use a few more times on the track. A set of Michelin Super Sports were ordered to mount on the C7 wheels for street use and a better wear rating.
Neither the local Chevrolet dealer nor a custom shop could get the Super Sports to pop onto the bead rim on the wheel!!!! Chevy says it is a tire issue. Michelin says it is a wheel issue. We have been told that the wheels that come with the Z07 package differ from the standard Z06 wheel.
Has anyone else had this issue and WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the second post I have recently read implying there is something different about the Z07 wheel compared to the "base" Z06 wheel. News to me. I'd be very surprised if it were the case...but stranger things have happened.

We took it to the 'high-line' wheel shop, Lambo specialists, etc. and they couldn't do it.
If anyone can recommend a shop in the Tampa area we are listening!

The fact that a Chevy dealer couldn't do it worries me. I understand a little dealership in the middle of nowhere but a major dealership should have all the machines to service the vehicles they sell. What are customers supposed to do when they get a flat?
Also tires being shot after just one track day sounds ominous. Did you do like ten hours on track or is this just after 20-30 laps?

I think this is one of the unintended consequences of this fad to go
to larger and larger wheel diameters. I had trouble finding somebody
to mount tires on my 18 inch wheels, so I can only imagine what it's like trying to get 20 or 21's mounted.
Did they heat the tires in an oven first to make them more pliable? I have heard of this technique being used to make the job easier.

Might try Reeves on Florida. Deal multi high end cars. Detail shop a while back mounted my current P Zero's on Ferrari. If they can't I sure they know where to take them.

The 2015 Z06 base and Z07 models have the same wheels. Mounting the 335 Michelin run flats are very difficult due to their extreme width and the stiff sidewalls. The Lamborghini rears are a 335/30/20 so they have a wider sidewall (more flex) and they are a non run flat so they are easier to work with than the standard Z06 rear 335/25/20. Many chevy dealers do not have their own Mounting & balancing equipment, they typically contract out to a local tire shop. When you need new tires most customers go to a tire shop not a car dealership/service department. Try Wheel Tech off of Waters, ask for John or Wally. They have mounted many of our sets including our 360 forged 20x13s with the Michelin 335 run flats.

The tire shop needs a mounting machine with dual arms. I got tired of dealing with all the problems at tire shops and bought this mounting and balancing equipment. The run flats are still hard to change but I don't think I could do the harder ones without the arms.

Lol, I finally got them on after 7 hours or so. Ether, I blew the bead on. That sounds dirty....
I sprayed ether in the tire while it was half beaded, then added fire... Tire beaded lol. It was crazy and scary. I have a video but I moved the camera when the explosion happened.

One thing that has helped - my tire shop made a fitting for the air hose that screws on to the valve stem and flows constant air from the shop compressor. This helps you work the side-wall while air is coming through - still a PITA but definitely easier.
