Default Car and Driver March 2015 ZO6 heat chart

Anyone else see the heat chart on the new Zo6. The picture describes the maximum temps the car take. Notice the engine and trans oil states 284*. That sounds very scary since I already seen 257* on a cold 40* day at road atlanta.

I saw this. Notice in the upper right hand corner ...'designed to be fully functional between ambient temperatures of minus -22 and 122'. I wonder what fully functional means to them.

I guess we will find out soon enough!

Yea think that is at normal street driving. Gonna be a long track season if we start having issues.

Anyone wanting to know what tadge has to say about heating issues please go over to ask tadge thread and vote for my question. We will just ask him about it in more detail.

I for one would like to know what i need to start focusing on cooling mods first. If indeed there is any at all.

It seems like the Z06 is trying to imitate my 2003 Mustang Cobra with Heaton supercharger.

God, I hated that blower.
Fix was a Whipple, new radiator and HE.
God, I love this blower.

Seems Dodge got the heat thing figured out. This should not be!

That's not true. The tires cannot be driven when it is sub freezing. Even the SS are rated Summer only.

Looks like 60 mph, which is 2nd gear. Bang it in third and you lose since you are in the wrong gear. This story repeats itself over and over again.

When the A8 pulls up along side the 1/2 ton heavier thug, it will be all over.

If you want to do roll ons, get down to the Level 1. Level 3 is 9 mph slower top and from 130 up is a pig.

Coming soon.

Something doesn't add up - the ZR1 runs the same temps and doesn't go into protection mode. That said, you don't want to be running a synthetic lube over 300, because it will abruptly turn to water and you could lose the motor or the gearbox. I almost lost an engine at Fontana this way in my track car: oil temps were near 300 (as they usually are) and suddenly the oil pressure takes a dump to 30psi... at nearly full throttle. I was lucky that I happened to look down at that moment. I pitted to try to figure out what was going on. Once the oil cooled down, the pressure came back up. It started to do the same thing in the next session. A guy at Redline told me that once a synthetic gets overheated once, it permanently loses viscosity.

I just think GM is being overly conservative on the tune of the Z06 to guarantee they are CYA. Especially in view of all the recent scandals. Basically, they are making it impossible for the owner to break anything on the stock tune.
