Radar Detectors
Anyone install a radar detector in their car yet? I have a V1 and I know they have produced the mount that attaches to the mirror, but what are you doing for power? On my C5-Z I was able to plug into the back of the mirror with no cords showing, but the new mirror is different. I don't want to have a cord hanging down plugged into the console. Any ideas???

You can purchase or if you saved the (Mirror Tap) power cord from your C5, you can use it to power the V1 on your C7. Here is the installation instructions URL https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...n-2015-c7.html
The one suggestion I have is before reinstalling the small plastic cover back behind the mirror, take a small round file and file a indent so the cover doesn't put excessive pressure on the cord!
-------------
I saved the instructions to a word doc if you cant loacce them... Looks like the link is broke.
I installed one on my C7 and one on my wife's C7.

Black to the Black and red pin to the full purple.
After reading previous C7 posts stating that you need to run back to the fuse box ... this seems like a better easier and cleaner way to go... Thank YOU for these instructions... it worked
I followed these directions for the C7 ZO6 - and just finished today.
After completing the instructions ... Im not sure you need to pull the camera cover, although I did.....

If you're married to the Valentine, you should give serious thought to the Valentine Savvy connector. http://www.valentine1.com/savvy/
Easily installed and the people who have it swear by it.

I did a super clean install of the V1, SAAVY (into OBD port), and remote display just to the right of the 650/650 interior badge. I'll try and do an install thread next week.
Best,

I thought radar detectors were obsolete now? I thought it was all about laser jammers and things like that. I have a wireless solo II that worked well for me with my 06 C6...I do like that radar on the mirror. Is that a laser jammer? Whats the cost of a good one nowadays?

I use the straight power cord tucked in the pillar and then plug into the adapter that goes in the 12v port. No tapping into anything required. I also did the same with my Escort Max in my other car.

In my experience, the local / county cops use radar while the state troopers are more apt to use lasers and still radar. On interstates we see a lot of lasers.
The obsolete question isn't about laser jammer vs radar detector; the question is has Waze made both obsolete?

Sorry Should have tested the URL
Sorry team, but should have tested the URL before send this out! Connect to the black wire and purple wire for the mirror. If it doesn't work for you at first, then swap the leads!

Waze is a GPS navigation app for your phone/tablet that provides real time navigation with community imputes to report accidents, traffic jams and police locations. When you see a LEO or accident or are in a traffic jam you report it on your app by pushing a couple buttons and the location of what you report is provided to everyone else using the app. This has saved me a lot of time on a couple road trips where I 64 was at a standstill over an accident. Shows up on Waze including how bad it is and you can then navigate around it.
The point to point navigation is as good as any Garmin or Tom Tom I've used and best of all, it's free.

With my new Z06 on the way, I'm planning to go all out on with the Passport 9500ci (with mirror monitor) and AL Priority laser jammers. Looking at $3k. But as I drive around with Waze I'm really starting to rethink the whole thing. Waze works very well,....
